Minneapolis is getting an event that’s aiming to be the world’s biggest photography festival from Sept. 18-20. They want MODE Photography Festival to be like SXSW was for music in Austin & Sundance was for film in Park City. I talked to their President & COO about it here: youtu.be/wSLOakPnUv8?...

Interesting data from Brookings - after a few years of post-pandemic growth, most big cities in the U.S. saw their growth slow down or go negative last year. www.brookings.edu/articles/big...
Pretty amazing how well you can see the tv markets on the map. The margin in the primary was pretty stunning given the spending gap, even more so when you look at this and see that it looks like the $$ helped in some places.
New top 5 place in Minneapolis to have a drink just dropped
Pretty great that General Sports Bar looks like they’re going to bring back the skate sharpening the area lost when General Sports died. Finally an option west of Flanders Bros, which is excellent but not enough for an area this big!
This essay about how hyper-politicization is eating the world around us is one of the best things I’ve read this year: www.nplusonemag.com/online-only/...
Damn, we’re actually going to the playoffs.
KODY CLEMENS ULTIMATE GRAND SLAM!
Can’t believe the Twins are actually going to the playoffs. Damn.
Can anyone tell me the name of the band playing a backyard show on the 2500 block of Aldrich? Because they absolutely ripped it.
George Floyd should be alive today. Feels like everything and nothing changed the day he was murdered 6 years ago.
Been trying to figure out a good comp and I’m settling on Steve Nash & Lamelo Ball (on court only). She is such a star.

In general we need to move away from farming out government functions to nonprofits, for this and other reasons bsky.app/profile/mprn...
The lawsuit said former director Trahern Pollard used $6 million of that to pay for luxury cars, trips, child support and his own private businesses.
Shout out to the upper deck at Target Center, standing and LOUD all fourth quarter. Really brought it. Wolves in 7.
Minnesota needs new ideas for growth. Angelfest, which has gone from cool local event to booming national platform for angel investors, hits town this week. I dug in to why we should be looking at growing an ecosystem that can support their investments. tcbmag.com/rybak-if-we-...

We elect the School Board to be the people’s representatives to manage this and they have either been unable or unwilling to do so.
Holy guacamole, this @mwhitler.bsky.social @minnesotareformer.com chronology of how long the Minneapolis Public Schools finance department irregularities have been known and how little the district has been willing to say about them is... just wow. 1/
IRS penalties, a mysterious deficit in the district’s healthcare trust account, a blistering outside audit that referred to the department’s “pervasive fear and uncertainty,” two reprimands and a performance improvement plan. minnesotareformer.com/2026/05/01/a...

An absolute titan of a dead fish in Cedar Lake, rest in power Bottom of the Lake King.
For multiple years and across multiple Park Boards, there have been a series of secret meetings to work to make this wonderful public space worse. Whenever the public gets to weigh in, it’s 90%+ against the changes. And it looks like the secret meetings are continuing!
Minneapolis Park Board members have held private discussions with Dakota leaders over closing or moving the Minnehaha Dog Park, which lies within the Mni Owe Sni sacred site.
Two years ago I read this book. It made me become obsessed with the semiconductors. There are massive vulnerabilities with every piece of electronics, phones, laptops, cars, everything we use for cyber or national security, etc that we have a weak domestic supply chain for.
Loved this piece about Mount Olivet’s plans for a coffee shop and brewery, the mechanics of how a thing like that would work, and this beautiful quote tucked at the end. tcbmag.com/church-to-br...
Harrison is the most underrated neighborhood in Minneapolis. Getting a brand new spa, already features Animales, Utepils, Milda’s, and a gateway into Wirth Park. A total gem.
Ayo’s sprint buckets off made baskets make me want to tattoo him on my neck
