A bit quaint to look back on the sci-fi dystopian fiction where the secret worth killing for and/or the spark that leads to revolution is often the discovery that the all-powerful AI has like a .001% error rate which everyone immediately understands is totally unacceptable.

People asking why the box office is tracking so high this weekend, it's pretty simple. We've had four Spider-Mans, four Spider-Man 2s, and a couple Spider-Man 3s, but like we've been seeing all summer, audiences are finally ready for original movies again, and this is the first *ever* Spider-Man 4.

Ok so, it's not a young Ebenezer Scrooge. It's the old kind with which you're familiar. And he's seeing Marley's ghost and the Christmas ghosts and all that. So it's just A Christmas Carol. The twist I guess is Johnny Depp will be really annoying in it.
Nickelodeon and Paramount have consistently mismanaged this franchise in the past (the way they've treated the new movie is awful) but they've reached a new level of actual sabotage, here.

There is a lot to say about the Nolan Odyssey movie. But one point that I think has not been emphasized enough is: this is a film about living in LA, as Nolan, my erstwhile British compatriot and age mate, has done for years. I gather it’s a strange place.

Consider: If I tell you "here's an engaging book" and then one day there's a terrible controversy involving the author, that doesn't have anything to do with my recommendation. But if I tell you "here's a morally pure book," then I'm endorsing that author's conduct in the past, present, and future.
