Weary academic studying queer/crip narrative form in the loooooong 18th century. Chronic illness my significant other, a cat named Fudge my familiar. They/them

Any of my disability studies folks have a favorite reading to introduce students to chronic illness and/as disability? (I use Susan Wendell's "Unhealthy Disabled" and it is good, but I'm doing a lot of updating this semester.)

I like this notetaking example. it is a good case of how gender works. Notetaking has never been about producing a transcript. It is a bureaucratic skill in the 20th c. organixarion because it is SENSEMAKING. Those women socialized to take notes? They have been doing men’s metacognition for them

Notetaking in meetings is tiny case in point - used to be some predictable social assumptions who would do it; now anyone can offer to do ”notetaking” by turning on the AI listener. Further interesting scenario is human recollection / notes (taken by habit by a person) conflict with AI summary

I am unbelievably touched that @dropout.tv titled my @dimension20.dropout.tv Adventuring Academy episode “A Duty of Care”

I’m overwhelmed today, but I want to circle back in a while to share the links to everyone & everything I cited. More soon.

Continuing through Sir Charles Grandison and currently furious with Harriet, who, on finding out about SCG's Italian love drama, haaad to be like "no, before I learn more about the sexy stuff I would like the longest lectures on virtue the world has ever seen" thus inflicting those lectures on US.

re: polls showing that Americans want to keep their employer provided insurance, the key thing to emphasize is that nobody gets to decide that already. fired or switch jobs, or your boss decides to change plans, which can and does happen all the time, poof

There is an article I have returned to every July since 2023, always in the midst of having my summers dashed by illness and surgeries. But THIS TIME no one has shingles, top surgery is long done, and no one has tripped over a cat and torn their knee cartilage[1]. I am WRITING this shit.

Making my way through Grandison, currently tracking with great amusement every time Harriet waits until the end of a paragraph to say "wait, don't read this one out loud."

Thrilled to announce that a combination of drugs, numbing, and having my partner hold my terrified little hand, got me through replacing my IUD after 9 years. The first time should never have been as traumatizing as it was. The measures my current doctor took to make it tolerable were simple

Just picked up a prescription that came to $0.02. Couldn't find a penny, so handed the pharmacist a dime. She took it, put it in the register, then said "...I guess I will just round up your change?" and handed me a different dime.
