ICYMI, Chatto is now Open Source and available for self-hosting. It's still early days, with Chatto currently sitting at 0.4, but it's a good version that we're happily using in production, so have at it! Here's our social media manager @hmans.dev with all the deets:

Meow! Some of you have been asking for email-less signups for your email-less friends. This is currently not supported natively by Chatto, but as a workaround, you can set up the excellent Pocket ID (which uses Passkeys) and wire it up to Chatto through OIDC. Instructions:

Configure Pocket ID as an OIDC login provider for a Chatto server.

I know I'm sounding like a broken record, but @chatto.run is so fast! Here I am scrolling down the list of files uploaded into the room, all the way back to March 1. Click an upload and you will instantly be transported to the message that added the file. This is not pre-fetched local state!

Random Chatto Fun Fact: We didn't want to cram the executable with megabytes of notification sounds, so instead Chatto is synthesizing all of them at runtime through the miracle that is the Web Audio API. Some are even slightly randomized! Pew pew pew!

Our infrastructure provider is currently experiencing some issues, and some Chatto Cloud-hosted instances appear to be affected. (We're all grown up now! Outages and everything!)

Random Chatto Light Mode appreciation post!
