Americans are relearning the lesson we learned during the Gilded Age of the late 1890s, when robber barons ran the government and the economy for their own benefit: Oligarchy is incompatible with the common good. I'm hopeful we'll respond with a new progressive movement.

Not sure if anyone's noticed, but democratic socialists aren't racking up primary wins because the base has suddenly embraced the tenets and ideology of Democratic Socialism. They're winning because leftist candidates are the only ones who understand the assignment: Defeat the enemy. Deliver goods.

Oil prices wouldn't be all over the news today if more of our economy was powered by local, secure renewable energy. This isn't an "energy crisis". It's a fossil fuel crisis. 44% of UK electricity came from renewables in 2025. More of that plus an electrified economy => no more oil shocks.
