One thing I'd love to see the sports genre in video games do is have a game based entirely off older leagues from years ago for historical purposes. NBA 2K11 kind of attempted at this with its own Jordan Challenge mode, which allows you to play important moments in Michael Jordan's career.

It's still one of my top favorite movies of all time and it's the kind that would never get made today.
