Properly gone at the idea of having this awarded like a corporate award gigs in one of those massive but soulless business hotel ballrooms, with Romesh Ranganathan hosting.

RTC then attempted to intimidate the highway staff into no longer removing flags by repeating their addresses to them.
A lot of fantasy authors are fantasy authors because they have a kind of nostalgia for simpler times so they see modernity and mass capitalism as kind of inherently corrupt. Tolkien also villainized industry. That doesn't make them bad people but also doesn't make their views on economics credible.

This quote/ trope is often misattributed either as a genuine classical quotation about Alexander of Macedon, or as from the script of Die Hard (1988). It’s actually originated by darts commentator Sid Waddell, about Eric Bristol, in 1984.

I won’t personally exult in the death of anyone outside a dictator with literal blood on their hands, but I do find it quite weird when they tone-police how people react to polemicists dying. Big part of his oeuvre, was it, essays on showing respect for the deceased no matter what they believed?
