Hazel and I gave a presentation for some senior illustration students at Emily Carr today! Unfortunately I didn't get any photos but I do have this slide from our powerpoint to share with everyone.

"Our most important advice: If you have never finished a comic before, make a >30 page comic before starting a large one. I literally cannot stress this enough."

New banner image! Used the chance to show of a few characters from some of my many projects ✨ If you're interested check the comments for more info on them. I quite enjoyed drawing them interacting with one another, even if it's just a little xD

From L to R: Bartholomew, big bird-human hybrid with feathers on his arms and a long beard. Brown skin, dark brown beard and he wears a red top with a tight hood around his head and brown pants. His design is inspired by the great horned owl. He has his eyes closed and his hands together in a clap, forming a happy expression. Princess Satjah, also a bird-human hybrid. Very light yellow-ish skintone and her hair is long, wavy and light blond. Wears a white dress. Feathers have a brown fade towards the end. She looks happily at Toto. M.O.M is an old-looking robot with a few replaced parts. He has rings around his eyes which makes it look like he's wearing glasses. The letters "M.O.M." are on the lower part of his stomach. He looks concerned about: Emly is a human girl with light brown hair in two long voluminous pigtails. She wears a mechanics outfit and happily lifts up a creature. It's her dog Toto, a brown alien on four legs, with four eyes, two thin upstanding ears and a thin blue tongue that hangs out of his mouth. Taylor, a young woman with animalistic head-features and long dark red hair. She is wearing a green t-shirt and dark grey high-waist pants. Her arms are crossed and she looks annoyed at Emly, who is pushing against her. Mainlen, a small young man (also with animalistic head-features) with relatively short messy black hair. He wears a red jacket with a white t-shirt underneath. He is holding a clipboard and looks up at Taylor with a soft friendly expression. Titus, a tall, thin, green goblin, wears brown fantasy clothes. Big sword is resting on his shoulder and looks over to M.O.M. Kali, a raven woman dressed in black, with hood. She looks calm and sophisticated. Edward, a skeleton wearing a dark red suit with thin white stripes. He lifts his top hat with a friendly expression. Elise, little girl with blond wavy hair and a light blue dress, she looks down at: Lumi, black cat, looking over at: The postman-fairy (in front of Edgar), looking up curiously.

Does anybody else kinda miss animated profile pictures? I used to create little animated icons as commissions back on Deviantart and, for my own, I would even sneak in little details, like a Halloween version. It was a lot of fun and I wonder why that's not a thing elsewhere.

May I introduce you to the two newest characters living rent free in my head? His name is Robin and her name is Marie. I'm not 100% sure where Marie will be placed in the story yet, but Robin straight up replaced another character. Such is the way of my mind I guess ✨ #conceptart
