The 3-1-1 app is a great way to report issues to the city, including flooding. You can download it for free in the App Store or Google Play.

Following a mostly cloudy, more humid, but still seasonably cool day today, a hot & very humid air mass will arrive on Sunday. With the heat & humidity will also come chances for t-storms (including some that may be severe) at times late Sun thru Mon evening.

The Air Quality Alert in Chicago has now been extended through Saturday. Active children, adults and those with pulmonary or respiratory disease such as asthma should continue to limit prolonged outdoor activity.

Due to wildfire smoke from Canada, Chicago's air quality is currently rated as "Hazardous" in many areas of the city. We are also facing hot, humid temperatures, increasing the health risk. Avoid outdoor activities and follow @chicagooemc.bsky.social & @cdph.bsky.social for updates.

A big THANK YOU to the Salvation Army for donating masks during this Air Quality Alert. The masks are being used to keep City of Chicago employees and residents safe. They're also available to residents at Ward offices and Cooling Centers.

Wildfire smoke is impacting air quality across much of the Great Lakes region into the Northeast U.S. Poor air quality can be hazardous to anyone. Before spending time outdoors, check the air quality forecast to ensure that you aren’t doing yourself more harm than good. airnow.gov

Air Quality and Health: Exposure to air pollutants such as particulate matter and ground-level ozone can cause headaches, irritated eyes and sinuses, fatigue, difficulty breathing, chest pains, asthma attacks, irritated throat and increased coughing. Poor air quality can be hazardous to anyone, and it can aggravate health problems such as asmtha, heart disease, and lung disease. Seniors, children and those with compromised immune systems are especially at risk.

The air in Chicago is officially at Hazardous levels. This means everyone should stay indoors and limit outdoor activity. If you or someone you know needs medical attention because of the air, call 911 immediately.

The U.S. Small Business Administration has established Disaster Loan Outreach Centers for those impacted by the severe storms on June 10, June 11, and June 17. The Chicago locations will be at the Pullman and Thurgood Marshall branches of the Chicago Public Library.
