How do you fake volume on a flat sprite? Instead of using the sprite's flat normals, create a cylindrical proxy around it and use the proxy's normals for lighting. Coming to True Alpha in a future update. #Unity3D #MadeWithUnity #GameDev

A sprite standing in water is a textbook example of sorted transparency limitation. Unity can't decide which object is in front of which, can't render them. Order Independent Transparency is the fix. Coming to True Alpha in a future update. #Unity3D #MadeWithUnity #GameDev
When billboarded sprites tilts, they can clip into walls. Correcting the pixels depth let the sprite appears in front of them as you'd expect. This isn't in True Alpha yet. It's a feature I'm working on for a future update. #Unity3D #MadeWithUnity #GameDev
Unity doesn't let us make our own Shader Graph targets? Make one anyway! For True Alpha, I needed a way to let users create their own transparent shaders using Shader Graph, so I injected my own properties in the graph's stack. #Unity3d #MadeWithUnity #GameDev
Another demonstration of Order Independent Transparency. Even the classic cross-quads trick fails with sorted transparency because intersecting geometry can't be sorted. It is typically done with alpha cutout, making it look pixelated and cheap. #Unity3D #MadeWithUnity #GameDev
Ever wonder why transparent objects look glitchy in games? Game engines sorts transparent objects by camera distance, which fails on complex and intersecting geometry. Order-Independent Transparency (OIT) fix it. #Unity3D #MadeWithUnity #GameDev

The World's largest Wind Turbine 26MW. In its lifetime it will produce the same energy as burning 750,000 tons of coal. That's 44,118 truck loads. Imagine how much money you save... It's 8x cheaper than using Fossil Fuel, were you close?
Experimenting with Gerstner waves and it doesn't look good. The high frequency waves makes the surface looks like a grid. What do you use to add details to water surface? Normal maps? Noise? Domain warping the high frequency waves? Any advice would be much appreciated. #unity #madewithunity #gamedev
Transparency effects can be layered on top of each others. #madewithunity #gamedev

Years ago I experimented with order independent transparency. I found a way to increase performances. Still experimental but it has potential since regular rendering techniques can't handle intersecting transparent objects like hairs, clothes, fur, feathers or water. #GameDev #MadeWithUnity
