In-depth reporting from the Texas Tribune outlines the ways in which this administration has been meticulously chipping away at the laws of this country to strip unaccompanied children of their rights to have a meaningful and fair process. 🔗 https://bit.ly/4wnKH6P
Trump still hasn’t paid nonprofit attorneys over $65 million for their work to represent immigrant kids this year. Meanwhile his administration spent $50 million on the UFC fight, and $102 million on DC beautification efforts like the botched reflecting pool. (1/2)
Tens of thousands of children — some too young to speak — will be forced to navigate a complex immigration system alone, because the Trump administration refuses to pay for legal support Congress has already approved. (1/2) #UnaccompaniedChildren #ProtectKids

Immigrant survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking WIN BIG in ICWC v. Mullin! A federal court restored protections in a nationwide victory that affirms their rights & requires that Trump respect the law. Press release & more about the case in our Linktree / bio!
NEW: We're very disappointed that SB 1095 was held today. It was the first ever-legislation in our state to protect Californians from Fusion Centers' spying and racial profiling. We're grateful to Sen @senatorsrp.bsky.social for authoring this bill and we'll continue the fight. Our full statement ⬇️
🗣️CASE UPDATE: Fanfan v. Noem Check out this update from CILP and @chrclla.bsky.social regarding this ongoing litigation impacting people re-detained during check-ins in the Southern District of California. To learn more, visit: www.centerforhumanrights.org/fanfan-v-noem
Today, our attorneys Sarah Kahn and Erika Cervantes were invited by the Federal Bar Association to speak on the Center’s work in the ICWC v. Noem case, which addresses the federal government’s broken promise to protect immigrant survivors.
We're excited to share that SB 1095 passed its second policy committee yesterday! We're so glad this critical bill is moving forward. Updated language will be in print soon. Thank you @senatorsrp.bsky.social; lead witness Saira Hussain, Senior Staff Atty at @eff.org; and all who supported!
BREAKING: SB 1095, "Expose Data Deportation Centers," by @senatorsrp.bsky.social just PASSED out of the CA Senate's Privacy Committee! We're proud to co-sponsor this bill, the first-EVER in CA to seek transparency and accountability from secretive, shadowy entities known as “Fusion Centers.” 1/
The Trump administration’s threats of war crimes demand a clear response, and we will not remain silent. CHRCL stands with 200+ organizations to reject this dangerous rhetoric and to affirm a fundamental principle: violations of international law must be met with accountability.
When survivors come forward with promises of protection, they shouldn’t face deportation. CHRCL’s Erika Cervantes and Sarah Kahn speak out on a system that turns safeguards into traps. Read more: bit.ly/MotherJones-CHRCL
Trump's EO to end birthright citizenship isn't just another nativist stunt- it's an anchor in his mass delegalization campaign. And yet it exposes the contradiction and hypocrisy of nativist logic: they claim to honor the Constitution while simultaneously dismantling the 14th Amendment.
I was born in Los Angeles, but my parents were undocumented at the time. They were teenagers working in valley sweatshops, & didn't go to school past the 3rd grade. Through a lot of random luck, I graduated from Yale Law & now lead an immigrant rights org. That's what they're trying to destroy.
Great account that highlights the longstanding cruelty of our immigration system, the difference between legally belonging + acceptance, & the stakes at the Supreme Court today. Eliminating birthright citizenship will entrench a caste system of haves & have nots that will destroy upward mobility.
Today, we commemorate Farmworkers Day, honoring the resilience, dignity, and essential contributions of the men and women who sustain our communities through their labor and advocacy.
Another inspiring training session at the Art Theatre of Long Beach! Guests had a chance to watch the illuminating documentary Expanding Sanctuary, and engage in a panel discussion with the film's creator, its protagonist, and critical discourse on the role of organizing from ORALE, and CHRCL staff!
ICE doesn’t belong anywhere, including our airports. CHRCL Community Advocate Edward Barsoumian sounds the alarm in an interview with ABC 7 reporter Bianca Buono about the Trump admin’s militarization of airports–a move clearly designed to threaten immigrants travelling throughout the United States.

Cleared for release, then imprisoned again. Across the country, immigrants are being re-arrested at routine ICE check-ins without warning or review. Learn how advocates can fight back from Monika Langarica, CHRCL Deputy Legal Director and lead counsel of Fanfan v. Noem. Register: bit.ly/CHRCL-MAR25
8,250+ Californians deported in the first 9 months of 2025. Most had no attorney. This is not what due process looks like. AB 2600, introduced by @asmmiabonta.bsky.social, would change that; our state can help right now!
The Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law is proud to announce the latest addition to our team! Meet Monika Langarica, joining as Deputy Legal Director. She will be working to improve the lives of refugees + immigrants throughout the country. Visit us to learn more & collaborate with her!
