Let’s be clear here, when scientists say mistakes were made at the start of the pandemic, we DO NOT mean that we did too much. We mean not socially distancing quickly enough, not making tests widely available, and not acknowledging COVID is airborne and distributing N95 masks to everyone.

One of the things you get from watching tributes to Glen Hansard is that he was a musician’s musician. His peers really respected him. But also he was so kind to random people. And that seems sort of perfect. To be respected both by the people who deeply understand what you do and those who don’t.

@mayor.nyc.gov started cracking down on delivery apps’ shady tipping practices in January. That policy has now delivered about $104 MILLION in additional tips to deliveristas. These workers have been fighting Big Tech’s greed for years. Kudos to them and Mayor Mamdani for putting workers first.
