Flew to Portland to catch @thebeths.bsky.social and @beachbunnymusic.bsky.social, my two favourite bands of this decade playing together was too good to not see

Glad I got to do three of the four Rush shows at MSG, Thursday night was the emotional can't believe they're playing again show, Saturday was the party show and tonight I had a very nice centre seat ticket in the 100 section and got to my calmly appreciate everything, they're performing so well!
Another amazing Rush show at MSG last night, so glad they're mixing up the sets each night on this tour, one of life's joys is not knowing what a band is going to play next. Can't wait to see what they'll play on Monday #rush
Stress of getting tickets in the first place aside, so glad that Rush are back, they sounded amazing. Caught them at MSG last night and also going Saturday and Monday
Today's #sundaydaiquiri I made with some watermelon syrup (just juiced a watermelon, equal parts sugar on the stovetop), it's good!
Said goodbye to my best friend today, our dog Jackson, who we think was 16 years old. My heart is broken but I know we gave him a long and incredible life, my life is rich beyond words for knowing his love
If you're going to play a meaningless match of football it should at least be care free and entertaining, fair play to England and France for providing a fun game
It's easy to forget that England were getting knocked out by Iceland ten years ago and we've made two world cup semi finals and two euro finals since, but it's so frustrating to see the team panic whenever in a leading position
Typical England, actually play well, score a great goal then think sitting back and defending for the rest of the game is a good idea, limp dick stuff
Not one for the ages but England have been efficient this world cup, wish we were playing better but I'll visit the Jude Bellingham statue whenever it gets built
Forgot to mention seeing Spoon and Ratboys at central park on Wednesday. I love Ratboys but their set was difficult since everyone in the crowd was talking and not actually listening to the band, which can happen a lot at these free shows. Spoon were pretty good
A great night seeing Jejune and Ethel Meserve at Mercury Lounge followed by a late night Katz's
The worst thing about this world cup, and maybe the most offensive thing I've ever seen in football, is a man of the match vote appearing in the 55th minute. What kind of monster signed off on this.
That felt like more of a cage fight than a football match... I don't think I enjoyed it at all but it's nice to come out the other side of a game like that
My obligatory "thanks to Andrew Cuomo and RFK Jr for idiotically closing down the Indian Point nuclear power plant, that happened to be providing almost all of NYC's clean energy" comment
Great few days in Montreal for work, including a spectacular show by Ryan Davis and the Roadhouse band.
Bit grim, but this is a very useful graph for why we are more likely than not to rejoin the EU.
A fifth of Leave voters have died.
Got to see greatest band of all time @delamitri.bsky.social last night at Le Poisson Rouge, every show is a gift at this point and the crowd were also fantastic
Forgot to post about the superb Jimmy Eat World show on Tuesday at Brooklyn Paramount, playing Bleed American in full to celebrate its 25th anniversary
never in fucking doubt, greatest city in the world, knicks in fiiiiiiiiiive
What a treat to see Asian Glow last night at Market Hotel. I was possibly the oldest person in the venue but it's reassuring that the kids are listening to good music!
My latest #qcomp is up on qcomps.blogspot.com or this direct spotify playlist: open.spotify.com/playlist/37D... A lot of great releases already this year
Spending the weekend in Baltimore and kicked things off with a Future Islands and Dan Deacon show
No band does raggedy Americana as well as Friendship
The Radiohead thing over at the Navy Yard was pretty cool, probably not $75 a ticket cool, but the actual film was visually and socially stunning. Felt like art for art's sake in the best way
Great Courtney Barnett show last night at King's theatre (still the best room in the city), hadn't seen her since 2018, and I've been a fan of Momma since their first record but hadn't seen them until now either!
