Always reading. Interested in food, photography, fibre arts and fountain pens. Probably looking at plants, architecture and for deep shadows. Queer as hell. 🏳️‍🌈 glass.photo/christopher.r.m instagram.com/christopher.r.m instagram.com/christopherknits

Visiting my parents and my dad declares at 21:15 that now it is time to go sit on the patio and watch the fireflies in the backyard. Honestly? Top tier whimsy and lovely activity to share with him.

I agreed to watch this Canada-Morocco soccer game. We’ve come to the Village and are having fun watching with some other gays. I found that I am suddenly much more interested as I have just learned that one of our keepers is this handsome beardy French Canadian.

On Monday I resigned from the job that used to be great but that went badly sideways a few months ago and a courier just collected my work laptop so I am freeeee! Even better, I don’t start my good new job until the end of the month so I have an unexpected month off!

Image of Nicole Kidman dancing with joy, culturally understood to show her joy in the freedom of finalising her divorce from Tom Cruise. She is wearing a pink top and a green skirt.

When the temps hit 36° and feel like 48°, you drive your baby Italian car to get the best damn Italian gelato in town. It is so hot, we went back in for seconds as soon as we finished the first. Also for Pride they made some gelato popsicles shaped like David’s bum. 😈😎

A cup of gelato with two flavours, a pink strawberry on the left and mint straticello on the right. A cup of granita with two flavours. Mango on the left and chocolate on the right. An ice cream popsicle on the right shaped like David’s bum.

For the past few months I have been taking swimming lessons to learn to swim a proper front crawl and actually have my face in the water. Lessons ended last week and today I went to my first open lane swim and holy hell I am still so, so bad and have so much more to learn. BUT…

I have waited TWO YEARS to catch this seasonal flavour again at Moon Milk. It is orange buttermilk and tastes like a grown up version of the orange sherbet that I was obsessed with as a kid. It is prefect and they maybe make it for a week or two each year.

I am wearing sunglasses and a hat holding a cup of ice cream in front of a window with reflections of people.

Went on a terrific Jane’s Walk this morning, Toronto in Print, and learned so much and maybe am even more angry about ai somehow too? It was a fascinating talk connecting the history of printmaking, labour movements and activism. IDK, hug your fave indie printmakers and printing houses I guess.

A group of people walk on a sidewalk past a park. A group of metal font type pieces. A group listening to a speaker while standing in the courtyard at Massey College. A group listening to a speaker outside of Coach House books.

Sunday afternoon at the symphony with a faggy little scarf. It’s so weird to be here during the day, I am usually here Thursday or Saturday evenings, and my seat neighbour keeps telling me how much she hates violins. 🤷‍♂️

A selfie of me, a bearded man with glasses wearing a scarf. The program for the TSO Tchaikovsky’s Fifth. The TSO Orchestra standing for applause after a performance.

Changing my bike tires for the season and went in fully confident having done this many times before. Get part way through and suddenly cannot remember a thing as it’s been a few years at least. Fingers and tire levers akimbo and I fire up a YouTube tutorial and it all comes back in a second.

A dismantled bike tire showing the wheel and tire separated and lying side by side with the inner tube crumpled above them. There are small tools scattered on the floor.

I recently signed up for adult learn to swim lessons at my local YMCA with the goal to be able to lane swim for exercise and learn proper form. I was pretty nervous beforehand and once again, it was SO AWESOME to feel like you're learning something as an adult. We don't do that enough?

I have had a truly brutal week at work but, I am on a train rushing through ever deepening fog to meet a good friend to see a concert, I have book to read and more fun plans for the weekend. So, despite everything that conspired to make my week lousy I’m choosing fun and queer joy. 😎✌️

A selfie, I am wearing a jean jacket and green neckerchief. I am in front of a window on a train. Grass and a building are visible through the window. A virw through a window of a train. There is a body of water and marshland and trees in the background disappearing into the fog.
There are reflections in the window of the lights from the train interior.
