Happy Confederate Surrender Day to all who celebrate! And to all who don't: you should!
And as usual, the American media is completely and utterly incapable of dealing with the moment.
BREAKING: President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Iran on Tuesday morning that a wave of expected U.S. military attacks on critical infrastructure would leave the country unable to recover, hours before his deadline for Iran’s leaders to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. bit.ly/4dyrn0K
Anyone thinking Congress or the Cabinet will stop him really does not understand just how much these people have been waiting for someone just like him to do all the awful things they've been dreaming of doing for so long.
This will either be Heaven or Hell. Either way, Let’s Go Mets! #LFGM
Crocuses are blooming, first seedlings started—spring is coming!
It really amazes me that in the 6th year of Trump's presidency, and over a decade into his political career, seemingly reputable media outlets like the Atlantic can still publish things like this. As if Trump is a "normal" politician, and we don't have the aforementioned 10+ years of examples...
Donald Trump’s State of the Union address tonight has the potential to put his presidency on more stable ground—if he doesn’t get in his own way, Jonathan Lemire tells Will Gottsegen in The Atlantic Daily:
This is a very, very good piece from a very, very good historian. Read it.
I wrote this short piece on mainstream efforts to hide the relationship of white conservatism to state & vigilante violence in the U.S. & why—esp in these moments—we have to push back against that impulse to whitewash & preserve the systems of violence we claim to oppose.
Garden is providing a lot of cut flowers this year!
They already have one: it’s called Harvard Business School.
Exclusive: Harvard leaders have discussed creating a center for conservative scholarship as the school fights the Trump administration’s accusations that it is too liberal.
We have masked men kidnapping people on our streets; a POTUS who led an insurrection starting an illegal war; a Congress and a judiciary that has embraced the idea of executive authoritarianism; and a media controlled by oligarchs and unwilling to speak any kind of truth to power. This is fascism
I think it's time for a nationwide general strike.
Maybe it’s time for Merz & Germany to return the favor?
MERZ: Tomorrow is the D Day anniversary, when the Americans ended a war in Europe TRUMP: That was not a pleasant day for you? This is not a great day MERZ: This was the liberation of my country from Nazi dictatorship
Remember: If the enemy of my enemy does Nazi salutes, he is also my enemy.
The full story of this administration's corruption may never be told, even as it is happening in front of all of our eyes.

Happy Confederate Surrender Day! Should be a national holiday…
This was pretty cool to see in person
Amidst all the awfulness, a bright spot: it’s opening day! #LFGM www.youtube.com/watch?v=2N4V...

Let's just be clear about this--Reagan was not in any way a good president. And without him, we wouldn't be in this whole mess right now. 🧵1/
I have been a NY Mets, Jets, and Islander fan for almost 47 years. And I have never seen an organization group perform as pathetically as the Democratic Party right now.
➡️ January 20: FAA director fired ➡️ January 21: Air Traffic Controller hiring frozen ➡️ January 22: Aviation Safety Advisory Committee disbanded ➡️ January 28: Buyout/retirement demand sent to existing employees ➡️ January 29: First American mid-air collision in 16 years Making America Great Again!
But the problem with “originalism,” as has been pointed out in a whole other voluminous body of literature, is that it’s a vacuous idea with no real historical or legal merit. So giving it credence when it is always deployed for specific and often contradictory poltical reasons, is just, well, dumb.
My key point here is not substantive. I find Trump's order cruel & terrible, but whether it is constitutional is a separate, crucial question. Left-leaning people like me should assume good faith by those suggesting the order is constitutional & engage with their arguments.

Guys, guys, I don’t want to be alarmist but I’m starting to think these billionaires really don’t care about the public good after all…
