Seems like an upset might be brewing in the GOP primary in #MI08 to take on Dem Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet. Trump endorsed Amir Hassan, but he currently trails an absolute nobody who suspended his campaign a month ago by a wide margin.

"If you came across these headlines as a non-sports fan, it would probably be fair for you to assume that there's a trans woman playing in the WNBA, or at least one at a high level in college." Well said, @laurentheisen.bsky.social. Numerically a nonissue, but manufactured for politics and bigotry.

A question in the back of my mind is exactly how catastrophic does November have to be to get Republicans to repudiate Trump and moderate? What threshold do we need to cross for this to be considered not just a repeat of 2018 or even 2006, but 1932?

It’s a direct attack on rule of law from the highest levels, aimed at permanently ending US Constitutional democracy and imposing a dictatorship. Always has been. Anyone who tries treating it as something else—as if they’re dealing with mistaken impressions rather than lies—gets egg on their face.

It's funny that Jeanine Pirro brought a box of evidence to WH to persuade Trump. He wants her to consciously *throw out* exculpatory facts and *knowingly* prosecute innocent people. So facts can't persuade him by definition. Me and @barbmcquade.bsky.social on this: newrepublic.com/article/2139...

You'll never guess what party this guy is in "He planned helicopter rides and strip club visits. He sent 30 different types of ice cream. He did their housework and decorated Christmas trees. He bought them designer purses, guns and tickets to Broadway shows." www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...

Creepy poems and strip club plans: How a congressman disturbed young female staff

The House Ethics Committee found evidence that the Republican congressman did housework for his young female staffers and sent them lavish gifts.

“No alternative but to take his word” motherfucker you’re a lame duck who got turfed out of your own party in favor of an actual felon because you were insufficiently groveling to these guys. You’ve got plenty of choice. You’re free. What you’re lacking is courage and dignity.

Cornyn: "As to the idea it could be revived in the future, I think it's highly unlikely that could happen without the cooperation of the DOJ. And I think Mr Blanche gave us the assurances that it was dead and would not be revived and in this case we have no alternative but to take his word" 🙃

It seems crude to put the cost in terms of dollars and cents, but it really matters! Resources being used to treat measles are resources that can't be used for other things. Medicaid dollars are extremely finite and other medical spending is already a huge strain. There are negatives besides death.
