@chuebner.bsky.social & I are feeling the strong buzz at a #VotesAt16 event organised by @politicsproject.bsky.social in London with lots of youth activists working to make #Vote16 a huge success. We're excited to share international insights from @dpart.bsky.social & @uoe-sps.bsky.social work.

There's no way "over half of Gen Z want a dictator" - our new study gets more like 6% This is vital to get right - we're sowing generational division, giving fake momentum to the sense that young people are rejecting democracy + missing the real message theconversation.com/only-6-of-ge...

Only 6% of gen Z actually favour dictatorship – not half, as some reports would have you believe

Gen Z don’t hate democracy, they have a problem with the way it is being delivered.

#diesejungenLeute

With @eichhornjan.bsky.social I wrote about our data on the longer-term outcomes of the lowering of the voting age in Scotland in @cogitatiopag.bsky.social. With all things that were unique in Scotland in 2014/15, seven years after the start of #Vote16 16/17s still vote more often than 18+ year olds

In a new article for @cogitatiopag.bsky.social on #Vote16, @chuebner.bsky.social & I show that young people (16-31) first enfranchised at 16/17 had greater turnout in the '21 Scottish Parliament elections than those who were 18+ at their first vote. @dpart.bsky.social @uoe-sps.bsky.social #VotesAt16

Join us on Tuesday, 28 January, to discuss what's in store for the UK when the government does go through with their plans to lower the voting age! I will discuss with @moorsee.bsky.social and @marcusflucker.bsky.social hosted by @conunitucl.bsky.social‬.
