Yesterday, I began replacing the cane on a Swedish side table that I'd rescued from the curb. The cane shelf was damaged, so I removed it and found a source for the cane. The original had been attached with dowels, so I carefully drilled out the holes and soaked a trial length of cane. 1/2

The table as I found it. Upon research, I found it is a Swedish teak "Folke Ohlsson vintage 2 tier side table with cane shelf." The cane was pretty chewed up, so I removed it.The cane arrived in ten foot lengths. I was a bit worried about the tiny packaging, but it turns out there is enough to do the job!The former holes that had been plugged with dowels are being carefully drilled out.

A man with a dog entered the wooded coyote area; I shouted for him to stop. He said he had to pee, so I warned him about the coyotes & offered our bathroom. He declined but accepted my advice to duck behind a tree a little further down the street. Didn't want his pup (or him) to get bitten!

Watching The Thomas Crown Affair (1968) that was on TCM last night, and didn't realize Gordon Pinsent was in that film. Directed by Norman Jewison. I'd seen the 1999 version with Pierce Brosnan a few times (LOVE LOVE LOVE the soundtrack on that one).

my cat's special kidney food smells so bad and I hate it so much, but he needs to eat it, so I slap it down into his bowl like a mean lunchlady and say "ewwwWWW so GROSSSS ughhh" and then "bon appetit enjoy" cause I need him to think it's not disgusting

Yesterday I had the privilege of visiting the Scugog First Nations Powwow. The drumming, dancing, colour & movement stirred my soul. I had my first poutine & it was bison poutine! The vendors were wonderful. I now have braided sweetgrass, a smudge bundle, & a lovely mug designed by a Mik'maw artist.

It lives up to the hype."Celestial Bear" designed by Kim McDonough, Mi'kmaq artist from Toronto, for Oscardo, an Indigenous-owned company. In the background is a James Jacko's "Tree of Life" mug from the same collection that I'd bought a couple of years ago. I didn't realize until I got the Bear home that they were both from the same collection. Each mug sold pays a royalty to the artist.

One animator put it plainly: “You have no idea how frustrating it is to see press release after press release touting how much money our animated film made and how many nominations we got; then [the studio] turns to people who have worked here forever and says, ‘We don’t need you anymore.’” Heh.
