Thinking about that bit in Blade Runner 2049 where a tiny horse made of real wood is so valuable that it could get Ryan Gosling new papers to go off world which seems less and less ridiculous every time I plan a new project.

But did anyone ever actually see the metaverse? Pretty sure it was made up to launder money, they just made it so shit everyone laughed at it and never tried to use it. “Oh yeah, we’ve spent billions on it. Let me introduce you to our lead engineers Bobson Dugnutt and Sleve McDichael.”

I think Hard Target would have been my first back in ‘93, I don’t think I got to see a Hong Kong Woo film until about ‘97, when I saw Hard Boiled because subbed VHS was not easy to find. Watched it in 4K recently, still a masterpiece, and probably my favourite. But Face/Off is an all-timer too.

Celebrating the films of John Woo today on his 80th birthday 🎈 What was the first John Woo film you saw, and your current favorite?

20 year old me would never have believed a day would come where I couldn’t give a shit that Tarantino and Fincher made a movie together.

All time fuck you childhood bullies: Tom sticking with ballet lessons and dancing his way into the West End, the MCU, and that lip sync battle where Zendaya decided to marry him. He just hit the #1 spot on the combined all time box office chart too. Real life ‘this is why I’m a supervillain’ stuff.

Hundreds of masked men blocking the port of Dover as an immigration protest? I’m old enough to remember when the police arrested 50 Just Stop Oil protesters for blocking a road in London. Which was 3 days ago.

I really enjoy commitment to the bit, so I must applaud It Ends. Overall a decent film but there is a *chef’s kiss* moment in there that makes it worth seeing.

Some people get rich and decide there is simply no challenge left but building a giant dick shaped rocket and going to space to earn more money. And some people buy 300 million books for kids.

Ordinarily I’d have pre ordered this in a second but a) Radiance are also releasing this and b) New Wave Video just ruined their release of Visitor Q by converting it to 24p and introducing a really annoying stutter to the motion. So I’m going to wait for Radiance to announce theirs.

***ANNOUNCEMENT*** Coming in October on #4K/Blu-ray dual format in Australia from #NewWaveVideo: #Gozu (2003)! When yakuza enforcer Minami is ordered to dispose of his increasingly unstable mentor, Ozaki, a mysterious disappearance sends him on a journey into a bizarre rural town where reality

I wonder how many people were startled into dropping their cigarettes when their phones started shrieking at them about not starting fires. For the record dear government, the instant alert horrible noise should be reserved for ‘you need to do this right fucking now because death is imminent’

The Oshima set was genuinely the best thing I bought last year. I will admit to being slightly less excited by this because I do own Eureka’s old Imamura set, but the Radiance extras do take the sting off the overlap and who can complain about new 4K versions.
