Today, we joined community members, healthcare advocates, labor leaders, faith organizations, & elected officials across the state for a coordinated day of action to celebrate the 61st anniversary of Medicare & Medicaid, while condemning recent federal attacks on affordable healthcare.

"Housing is one of the most basic forms of assistance and care because without a stable place to live, it is harder to keep a job or to stay healthy. It is harder to care for your children, it is harder to manage a disability or recover form a crisis," and advocate said.

This Juneteenth, we honor the generations who fought for freedom & recognize that the impacts of slavery can still be felt today. As Trump & MAGA try to take us backward, we remain committed to building a New York & a nation where everyone can thrive regardless of race, income or immigration status.

Happy Juneteenth, Freedom Day, from CANY

"New Yorkers should never again be forced to watch the legislative session compressed to a matter of days because executive control of the budget process has left the legislature unable to effectively perform the job it was elected to do." New Yorkers deserve a functioning democracy.

Yesterday, the New York State Senate passed S.172 – a critical step toward fixing New York’s broken paid medical leave system by providing working New Yorkers with economic stability and job security when facing a serious health condition. Now, it's time for the Assembly to follow suit.

We applaud the Senate and our bill sponsor, @nysenatorramos.bsky.social for standing with workers and their families across the state. Our full statement: www.abetterbalance.org/paid-medical...

The REST Act would give cities and towns the tools they need to keep rents affordable and stop families from being priced out of their communities. Legislators still have time to act, but they need to hear from us. Tell your legislators to pass the REST Act before they leave Albany: cit.ac/REST-Act

Happy Pride! We’re honoring dance icon and activist Alvin Ailey. An innovator of the NYC dance scene, Ailey used his choreography to combat racism, elevate African American culture, and advocate for inclusivity. His art served as both a celebration of Black resilience and a form of social protest.

"To be who you are and become what you are capable of is the only goal worth living." -Alvin Ailey
