Swear down I'd done this, logged into everything, assigned companies to my name, provided codes when submitting statements and just found out, I'm still not verified I am DIGITALLY LITERATE! Now sucking up the customer support time
This might be a bit niche, but it’s very annoying hearing of organisations saying “well it’s the law to segregate trans people so hands are tied” when most of them respond to accessibility law with “eh who’s gonna catch us?”

I really love a traditional village show and this thread is a very fine selection of many of the best elements. Extra points for the obscure class in the competition where there’s only one entry but the entry does not get first prize. (My grandad used to grow prize onions and chrysanthemums).

Update on today's #FixTheForms I checked the Companies House Register I'm a verified Person with Significant Control. I'm there TWICE as an Officer of the company and only ONE of those is verified. I don't know whether that makes me 1 in 5 million Good or a Naughty. #GivenUp

As many of us wonder what’s happening with what used to be GDS, the “they forgot it existed” explanation is the most plausible one for me. Ministers now focus on “give lots of money to AI techbros”. “Digital” has the same level of attention as basket weaving - nice but historic. #GovDesign

Duncan Weldon@duncanweldon.bsky.social · 3w agoI’m quite unconvinced on this. Either a 30-35 page form is actually collecting necessary information - in which case I’d rather it wasn’t filled in using transcription software - or it isn’t, which in case cut down the form.
So many people who aren't blind celebrating the fact an implant/treatment may "restore" sight in blind people. Here's a blind person's take: Really promising for those who want this but some of us actually don't need to be fixed :)

Amy Hupe@amyhupe.bsky.social · 4w agoMy Dad went to send an In Post parcel today and entered his own details on on the recipient details screen because: - the field labels don’t contain the word “recipient” so he just read “first name” - even if they did, the labels are placeholder text so disappear when you enter information… 1/2
Today's episode of "Fix the forms" is about 'delegated authority'. This happens when someone must legally deal with someone on behalf of someone else. For me, that's as executor for my late mother. Typically, all forms are *nightmares* when you're trying to do them with delegated authority.

Friends and followers of Annie Drynan @adrynan.bsky.social, I am very sorry to say that Annie died in her sleep early on Friday morning, having lived with cancer for two years. A strong woman and a well loved old friend.
Had the very sad news today that @adrynan.bsky.social has died. I heard recently that the attempts to deal with her breast cancer had been unsuccessful. I didn’t see her very often but greatly valued her friendship and insights, both during her career in UX and more recently as a historian.
