omg I passed! With just 10 days left on my International Driver Permit, I passed, and am getting a driver license!!

I found out from my driving instructor that if I had gotten the exact results of my driving test, but a year ago before they changed the rules, I would have passed. Tomorrow is my last test before I give up and shell out time and money and go to a school instead. I expect I will fail again.

Upon landing in Japan, I got a notification from Wolt (food delivery like Uber Eats) telling me to check out the places I could order from. Upon opening it, it's revealed that Wolt doesn't operate in Japan. Though perhaps I'd like to explore some restaurants in Kazakhstan!

Also nice when you can go touchdown to hotel room in just under an hour. Which includes immigration and customs. I think it’s a personal record.

Kinda nice when you arrive at your hotel room and your phone has already connected to the wifi. It’s like the opposite of Gandalf - it’s a place (well, the room at least) it’s never been before, yet is has every memory of this place.

Both my phone and computer are at 100% battery. So if I plug them into each other, one of them will charge the other one if it loses battery. Infinite power!

Our basement flooded and we lost a lot of things. Among them some envelopes of pictures I took around 1997-2003. I was sad. Until I looked at some of the pictures that survived. Then I was relieved that it was just terrible pictures that a 10 year-old took, and so nothing of consequence was lost.

I found my old computer under my bed. According to the terminal that re-opened, the last time I opened it was August 15, 2022. What a blast from the past. This thing is still on Big Sur. I got this in 2013 with all my “big gains” from bitcoin.

I wasn’t expecting cleaning out the old house to be so emotionally taxing. Maybe it will be better when I come back tomorrow and I haven’t been awake for over 24 hours traveling.

Plane rides are great because they are just about the only place I watch those “oh I’ll get to that eventually” movies. And often times I end up really liking them!
