If “party leadership and centrists immediately fall behind El-Sayed to defeat the Republican” does not align with your priors about the Democratic Party you should both reflect on why and also update those priors

"Online Rent-a-Sage" Bret Devereaux@bretdevereaux.bsky.social · 2h agoI fundamentally do not know how to square the politics whereby Democrats will essentially have to tell the American people that because they (the voters) made an extremely stupid decision, they need to lower their expectations substantially for the foreseeable future, but here we are.
There’s this weird conflation of statistical mean and outliers in a lot of this, like it is true that I am taller than most women but that isn’t actually relevant to evaluating whether I’m taller than a specific woman, and there are millions of women who are taller than me!

I don’t love that he was hanging out with dirtbag dipshits but a thing about El-Sayed is that he does actually have a lot of talent as a candidate, if he’s smart enough to lean more towards the center now that he’s the nominee—and I think he is—then I think he’ll do fine

Some people have suggested I haven’t done the background reading, but it’s not a deep idea. It’s from a passage that’s four sentences long.
My ice-cold boring take that will definitely not go viral is that a primary result with a margin of victory of roughly 1 percent tells you precisely nothing about The Future Of The Party.
I understand this is a lie and/or fantasy that a drug addict is telling the investors who reward that behavior, but what would even be the hypothetical benefit of using humanoid robots to manufacture things?

The best thing about Vote Blue No Matter Who is that it unloads a lot of cognitive burden. I wanted Tom Steyer to be in the Governor's race, but he's not so I'm gonna vote for Becerra. I don't follow his campaign at all: I'm voting for him because he's not a Republican.
