Wow that was quick. So under Trump, the US is not only clearly unwilling to honor Article 5 in case of war, it also shows a total lack of concern for military readiness for such an event. Russia will surely have taken note, but I am less sure about European capitals.

I think the far right will move on this issue. Climate change is now undeniable, and it affects heavily those social segments that they claim to defend: the elderly, farmers, manual laborers. It’ll be something like “yes it’s real, but the jet-setting elite caused it and they should pay, not us.”
'Unmoved' - by the facts.
After The Economist’s interview with Elon Musk, will major media finally reassess how they cover the fascist billionaire? As its editor-in-chief did the rounds saying she was “not a Musk hater,” he was on X calling her a traitor to the West and suggesting she be murdered. Please, have some dignity.
Elon Musk’s tired schtick
Why does the media keep debasing itself for a man who despises them?

One of the Islamophobic right's talking points in the months and years after 9/11 was that Islam doesn't value human life as much as Western liberalism does. Fast forward 25 years, and an explicit throughline of the far right and Trump II is that caring too much about saving lives makes us weak.
Apparently, for the editor-in-chief of the Economist, someone can hold the view that Hitler was a communist and still be a "perfectly thoughtful person".
At one point she notes that AfD, the German political party that Musk supports, has "real neo-Nazis." Musk literally just shrugs.
Germany supports war on Lebanon to combat non-state armed actors, but blocks even the mildest measures to hold Israel accountable for its army openly collaborating with non-state armed actors in a campaign of ethnic cleansing. Genuinely drives me up the wall.

So does every Anglo country have a Lee Anderson look-and-behave-alike, or is it just the US?
Tom Emmer: "Minnesotans are so afraid that you're gonna call us a racist, you're gonna call us an Islamophobe. You know what? I'm done being even the least bit careful. Somalis don't assimilate. And if they don't assimilate, then they should go the hell back to where they came from."
I don’t know anything about this survey and its merits, but metaphorically speaking, world public opinion towards the USA being stuck between Iraq and Iran kinda checks out these days.
I think Trump's recurring interventions about how negotiations are proceeding would make it really difficult for him to dissociate himself from the outcome of that process. He even had the G7 leaders praise him for it in the Evian statement. But I don't think he needs a fall guy for the deal.
JD is the fall guy…. Congressional Republicans are already placing the blame on Vice President JD Vance for a "terrible" deal with Iran.
While all eyes are on Iran, I find it important not to forget that there is still a plan for "voluntary emigration" (quote Israeli Defense Minister) being implemented in Gaza.

When looking at a longstanding bipartisan norm Trump only has two questions: does it benefit me personally, and if not can I trade it for something that does? I know next to nothing about US-Taiwan relations, but the same logic applies to transatlantic relations.
The second of the Six Assurances says, "The United States has not agreed to consult with the PRC on arms sales to Taiwan." This is a direct contravention of longstanding bipartisan norms regarding US-Taiwan relations.

The “Blue Labour” strategy still being promoted by some on Labour right is premised on being able to win social conservatives while holding on to social liberals. Failure state for this strategy is failing to win social cons while alienating social liberals. Here is a map of that failure state:

Would not surprise me if, between Meloni losing her referendum, Trump completely losing his mind and Orbán losing power, we’ll see this government recalibrate some of its positions. Today’s suspension of the security memorandum with Israel might be a first indicator of that.
Open war btw Trump & Meloni today - this has degenerated quickly... Speaking to Corriere della Sera, & responding to Meloni calling his attacks against Pope "unacceptable", Trump said: "She's the one who is unacceptable, because she doesn't care if Iran has a nuclear weapon and would blow up Italy"

One could not tell from this post that Israel launched an operation called “Eternal Darkness” on Lebanon, that it deliberately targets rescue workers, flattens entire villages, cleanses South Lebanon of its Shia population and has announced a plan of indefinite occupation of Lebanese land.
Hezbollah’s attacks on Israel must stop. We support Lebanon’s monopoly on the use of force across its entire territory and Hezbollah’s disarmament. At the same time, it is essential that the Israeli army protect civilians and civilian infrastructure. – @aussenminister.diplo.de 2/3
