this season is going to hell like big time and the loss of the diversity rule was incredibly massive because you can see the difference in the house environment and gameplay. we took a step forward and i don’t think it’s fair for anyone to go back look at how toxic things have gotten

I am Black first and a Reality TV fan second. So yes, my TV viewing experience is impacted by how Black players are treated in a season. It hurts that I have to explain this again and again every year. It hurts more how often it gets dismissed #BB28
And I am not saying this to bash Barrett. I actually generally like him as a player. Is he frustrating me as an anti-vet person, yes, but I haven’t ruled him out yet. He can kick it up soon. What I am saying is the narrative from the vets that Taylor doesn’t deserve to win is maddening.
I hate to see a show that bring so many people joy also cause so much pain. Taylor and Lala definitely don’t deserve the treatment they are getting and the people watching the feeds shouldn’t have to spend every season educating people and fighting to be sure that houseguests are called out. #BB27

Please give Gia’s piece a read! One thing that stuck out to me is how these issues are present across networks, not just CBS. Obviously, racism is a bigger issue than just #bb28. It’s societal and systemic. Reality tv is an escape, but it’s also worth engaging with critically.

i really think we as a community have to make an effort to more responsive and supportive of the people expressing concerns about the microagressions they’re seeing in the house from white players. they’re completely correct, and it is unfair that different players are held to different standards
