Hey folks, sorry for the radio silence. I've had a flare up of a chronic medical issue that crops up every few years and it pretty much shut me down for a week. Fortunately it seems to just be a blip this time, so I'll be back to pestering you with campaign messages this week 😉
They just keep coming for libraries. Libraries do more than just scary things like expose people to new ideas and new information. They also provide internet access, meeting space, classes for kids and adults, a safe place to get in from the heat.
My office smells like a campfire *inside*, or maybe that's just my clothes that smell after being outside for a few minutes. There was ash on my windshield this morning. This is bad, folks. If you're in the Treasure Valley, stay inside as much as possible and consider an air purifier if you can.
100 days until Election Day. 14 weeks. Please go volunteer two hours a week to a campaign. Thanks! #idpol
Even with current law in Idaho, it's just a matter of time before someone who has a miscarriage is investigated for suspicion of a self-managed abortion. Fetal personhood would make it routine. We can team up to prevent this, but it costs $. Your donation matters. secure.actblue.com/donate/cliff...
I mean, I'm running as a Democrat, so obviously you know I'm not far-right. But I've been accused of being just about everything else. Look at my policies, my values, my work. Because I've given up trying to fit into a political tribe. That's not what's important to me, anyway.
When wildfire smoke fills the air, public health officials advise going indoors. However, toxic particulate matter in wildfire smoke can enter our homes through cracks, doorways and heating and cooling systems. Here's what you can do to protect your home and the air you breathe:

The Treasure Valley smells like smoke, the air is brown, my eyes are watering constantly, and it's going to hit 38 C / 100 F today. Don't spend any more time outside than you have to, folks.
Y'all, we may have thought gay marriage was a done deal, but it's not. The Republicans in the Idaho Legislature want to end it. This Supreme Court might let them. I'm running to stop them. You can help. Sign up to volunteer. I'll make it easy. Promise. cliff-for-idaho.org/volunteer/
We've got something really special with our wilderness here in Idaho, and it's something many of us enjoy. Whether we experience it from a camper trailer, a kayak, or a tree stand, our public lands are a treasure. One we must protect. Stay informed on our efforts. cliff-for-idaho.org/newsletter/
On Nov. 3, the same day Idahoans will vote for governor and a slate of other political candidates across the state, voters will decide whether to pass the Reproductive Freedom and Privacy Act. #idleg #idpol
Idaho governor’s race: Pickens, Stegner support abortion rights ballot initiative • Idaho Capital Sun
Independent John Stegner and Democrat Terri Pickens said they would implement and protect the ballot initiative if Idaho voters pass it.

This is in Arkansas, but it could easily be Idaho. Private schools receiving public funding in Idaho are not subject to the same standards as public schools. They can be discriminatory. They can ignore curriculum requirements. They generally are not held accountable.
THREAD: The boy is called a liar. He’s told not to defend himself. Then the private school owner encourages all of his peers to attack him, one by one. She hits him, repeatedly, with a plastic pipe-like object. How does this school still exist — and receive state funds? 🧵
I hate that it's like this, but I'm going to do the thing where we post a friend's GoFundMe because that's how we handle healthcare now. Worth a read even if you don't donate, she and her son have had a terrifying couple of weeks. www.gofundme.com/f/help-emers...

It boils down to this: the Idaho GOP wants the wealthy to be cared for, and the rest of us... good luck. Help me feed a couple of volunteers while I work my way the Statehouse by donating $13 for District 13. secure.actblue.com/donate/cliff...
Idaho Republican Party platform, Article 1, Section 2, Part I: We support the repeal of the 16th Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America. 16th Amendment: The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes... 🧵
BREAKING from my inbox: The initiative to restore access to abortion, protect contraception and access to fertility treatments like IVF has officially qualified for the ballot in Idaho in November.
It feels hopeless, like nothing can ever change. But *you* actually can have a huge impact. A couple of hours a week of your time can sway local elections, and those positions really matter to your community. cliff-for-idaho.org/volunteer/
I'm running because it matters. Fighting for our community and standing up for our neighbors matters. People do not feel heard by our government, but we can change that. We can give our community a voice. You can join us. Sign up to volunteer. cliff-for-idaho.org/volunteer/
Over on the bad platform... no, the other bad one... I've been told I can't prove that property taxes fund local infrastructure. Where do they think wastewater treatment plants come from? Seriously. I get that everyone hates taxes, but I've never met someone willing to lay a sewer line for free.
The fact that they even want to take away our right to vote for the US Senate says a lot about how little respect they have for us. I need your help to beat them. Follow me, like, comment on and share my content. Juicing that algorithm helps! Cliff-for-idaho.org
Feeding kids at school AND during the summer is one of the smartest investments a community can make.
Summer break is something kids everywhere look forward to. Yet one common challenge is keeping kids well-fed while school is out throughout the break.
I love the idea of using my political campaign to help build community here in Nampa, but it's not the sort of thing that comes naturally to me. If you've got ideas on how to go about it, let me know. And you can sign up for the newsletter to see what we come up with. cliff-for-idaho.org/newsletter/
I'm not saying don't propose changes to the US Constitution. Swing for the fences! But have a plan, don't just tear stuff down for the thrill of it. And... have the legal authority to do it, first. Volunteer to help Idaho get back to reasonable politics again. cliff-for-idaho.org/volunteer/
The Idaho GOP has vilified public schools and teachers, and that's doing a huge disservice to our kids, our community, and our economy. Private schools don't need our money. Help me fight for our public schools in the legislature. secure.actblue.com/donate/cliff...
Social media insults part 354: I've now been accused of being a shill for the Department of Education. That's just... weird. I'm not even sure what that would look like. Stubbornly claim No Child Left Behind was a huge success, maybe? No clue what I did to earn that one.
Wasn't that long ago that someone tried to tell me Idaho doesn't have a problem with far-right extremists. www.investigatewest.org/idaho-labor-...

I'll be pretty surprised if this doesn't pass in November. Abortion rights poll pretty decently in Idaho, believe it or not! The GOP has already said they would repeal it, presumably out of respect for the Idaho voters. Err, I meant contempt. Contempt is what they have for Idaho voters.
The proposed initiative would legalize abortion until fetal viability or in cases of emergency. It would also enumerate rights related to reproductive health and privacy in medical decisions. #idpol #idleg
