"Before pointing out how Israel is a colonial project, Europeans should reflect on their own colonial projects" is not the own Zionists think it is, and yet they always fail to see it.

The Egyptian Relief Committee in Gaza has been arranging public screenings of World Cup matches across the strip. 1 hour before Egypt-Argentina yesterday the IOF murdered the committee's PR director Muhammad Fawaz al-Wahidi in his car, as well as a child travelling with him. For our next event, titled Iran in Context Part II: Politics and Counter-Politics in Contemporary Iran, we explore the politics of people’s mobilization and the political cleavages that characterize Iranian society to find out how ordinary people in Iran relate to big and small questions alike. We ask, for instance: can we talk about cultures of the Right and cultures of the Left in Iran? While examining the lines of divisions that cut across Iranian society, we will ask how different forms of mobilization have shaped contemporary Iran.

Speakers:
Mohammad Ali Kadivar (Boston College)
Paniz Musawi Natanzi (University of Bern)
Naghmeh Sohrabi (Brandeis University)

It's that time of year when the Dan David prize committee helpfully outs all of those 'critical' scholars working on histories of enslavement, racism and imperialism who are happy to shill for a racist settler colony and who you should spend the rest of your life avoiding like the plague.

This shows just how farcical constructions of 'terrorism' are, and how they exist to criminalise dissent. But to be clear: these constructions are no better when the average terror suspect is a brown or black man in his 20s - the accceptance of which paved the way for our current predicament.

Lizzie Dearden@lizziedearden.bsky.social · 2mo ago

The average terror suspect arrested in England and Wales is now a white woman in her 50s as a result of the Palestine Action ban Almost 2,800 arrests were made for supporting the group in 6 months - surpassing the number of terror suspects detained in the previous decade inews.co.uk/news/politic...

Synagogues are being used to launder war crimes. Not all of them, etc, but this is a real thing, and the Board of Deputies are defending it/lying about it. I don't know how non-Jewish people can distinguish between Zionism & Judaism while mainstream Jewish orgs run interference for ethnic cleansing.

In the past six years there have been 30 women murdered in Northern Ireland. All the perpetrators were white, and not a single road was closed or house firebombed.

This has all been actively driven by a Labour government though. 'Legitimate concerns', 'stopping the boats', the criminalisation of Palestine solidarity, the refusal to take on Musk and the algorithms; Labour has birthed this. It's not just or even mainly the far right and their suited avatars.

You see these scenes from Belfast? That's our future if Reform, Restore, the Tories, GB News, Elon Musk and the right-wing media get their way. Except this will be on a much bigger scale. We have to decide: do we want those inciting hatred to destroy our country?

THREAD: It's telling how many supposed leftists jumped straight to the anti-Arab/Palestinian/Islamophobic position of "angry Palestinian man thinks there should be less Jews on TV" trope when they read this essay. There's literally nowhere in the essay where Salaita says this.

Amid Zionism, there is no such thing as a neutral expression of Jewish culture...When we say “Israeli,” they hear “Jew.” When we say “Zionist,” they also hear “Jew.” But if we say “Jew,” then we are making bigoted conflations. Great piece @stevesalaita.bsky.social stevesalaita.com/the-ugly-exi...

Fascists in Belfast set fire to buildings with people inside them. People of colour left work early to stay indoors. This is being actively encouraged by the world’s richest man whose openly pro-white nationalist platform X is still used by the UK government www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

The Ugly Exigencies of Genocide - Steve Salaita

Israel's atrocities in Gaza have changed the way we speak about Zionism and Jewish culture.

I guess it's formal now. Thanks to the editors at @ejir.bsky.social for their support (which was a lot!) in getting this into print, and the two reviewers for some comments that really pushed me to think harder about what I was trying to say here. Open access so please let me know what you think!

88 people were murdered by the IOF in Gaza last weekend, and this is how the enablers of this violence evade accountability, by criminalising the word 'Palestine'. In my workplace, 'Stop the Genocide' posters were removed because the word 'Stop' implied an institutional opinion on said genocide.

Nathan Kalman-Lamb@nkalamb.bsky.social · 2mo ago

The Art Institute of Chicago has censured a faculty member for making an assignment that has “anything with Palestine in it,” in this case just quite literally the existence of a Palestinian. US higher education is actively policing Palestinian existence as ‘antisemitism.’

Let's notice how Goodwin doesn't reach the conclusion that the police is an intrinsically violent institution that needs to be abolished, but rather calls for the deportation of a brown woman. Well done BBC, well done.

Huw C. Davies@huwcdavies.bsky.social · 2mo ago

Got to be one of the most inflammatory statements ever broadcast on the BBC, let alone a current affairs show. Apparently, there’s a ‘regime’ that for ‘30 years’ has been operating against the interests of whites.

The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw calling Hamas's Operation Al Aqsa Flood an "antisemitic pogrom" (it wasn't), & questioning whether it would be acceptable to say that Hamas fuels Islamophobia (um, clearly yes, given there's been an internationally endorsed genocide) www.theguardian.com/film/2026/ju...

Planet Israel review – valuable personal documentary about Israel/Palestine conflict

Gillian Mosely’s film argues that Israelis are asked to accept a ‘forever war’ in part motivated by Netanyahu’s desire to defer investigation into corruption allegations

theguardian.com

No-one should have to decide if what they're wearing makes them a target. But this statement is a lie. If you're brown you have to make these decisions. If you're a woman you have to make these decisions. If you're gender non-conforming you have to make these decisions. Stop exceptionalising Jews.
