Captain Canada may say all the right words in railing against Donald Trump, but his tactics and destruction of our norms and institutions are absolutely cut from the same cloth. Ontario has been fucking up for two or so decades in basically the exact ways that the US has.

I think frankly all of this speaks to the really unserious way that Americans generally but the current GOP in particular think about armed conflict, as if it is against the rules for the other side to fight back. It is not. Which is one reason (of many) why maybe we should do less war.
These guys - and evidently many Americans - live in a fantasy land where the enemy isn't allowed to shoot back at your *warships* engaged in an active military operation (the blockade), but also apparently it is totally A-OK to murder civilian mariners at will.
