"When Trump plucked Katie Zacharia from obscurity & appointed her as his new press sec, he called her 'an attorney.' This is also how Zacharia describes herself. But Popular Information searched for evidence in all 50 states, plus DC, that she was admitted to practice law anywhere — & found none."

Trump’s new press secretary, Katie Zacharia, claims she’s a lawyer. Is she?

There is no evidence Zacharia has ever been licensed to practice law — and the White House did not provide any

1. There is no such thing as a "false rumor." The word for that is a HOAX. 2. The headline misses the entire point of the hoax, which is not that he was in Ohio, but that he was in a mental health facility! are there any adults left at the new york times

Republicans Promoted a False Rumor
That James Talarico Was in Ohio
The Democratic nominee for Senate in Texas spent nine days off the
trail with what he and his campaign said was a bad case of the flu. His
opponents fueled rumors, including one that spread widely before it
was debunked.

After James Talarico, the Democratic nominee for Senate in Texas,
spent more than a week with no campaign appearances because of
what he and his aides described as a bad case of the flu, a false rumor
circulated by conservatives exploded online.
By Sunday, a post on X claiming that Mr. Talarico had been at a mental
health facility in Ohio a story promoted by Republican allies of Mr.
Talarico's opponent, Ken Paxton - had been viewed millions of times.
Then the Ohio facility took the remarkable step of publicly announcing
on Sunday night that Mr. Talarico had in fact never been treated there.
"I've never even been to Ohio," Mr. Talarico, who returned to the
campaign trail on Friday, wrote in a post sharing the center's
statement. He called the theory "the craziest thing I've ever heard" in
an interview with MS NOW.
The New York Times reviewed time-stamped images from a security
camera at Mr. Talarico's home, which were provided by his campaign on
the condition they not be published for security reasons. The images
showed Mr. Talarico around the exterior of the home and at its
entrances between Oct. 1 and Oct. 8.

Russian propagandist Solovyev mocks the U.S. army, claiming they know nothing about modern warfare. "In a war against an adversary like Iran, America couldn't demonstrate anything," he says. A reminder that Russia provides Iran with missiles, Shahed drones, spare parts, and intelligence.

ICE “has said Parra was not the target of the attempted stop. Espinosa said Parra told him that he fled because it was unclear there were officials in the vehicles, which he said were unmarked, did not use sirens and had dark, tinted windows.” ICE makes us all less safe. #AbuseofPowerWatch

I’m hiring motivated and eager interns for the Spring 2027 semester in my Boston office. BIPOC, LGBTQ+, working class, veterans, and other underrepresented candidates with Massachusetts ties are encouraged to apply. Applications are due Monday, November 9th.

Holy shit. Rick Jackson didn’t just duck a debate with Keisha Lance Bottoms. He left her debating an empty podium. And the moderator made damn sure everyone knew it. Moderator Jeff Hullinger: “Mayor Bottoms, you may now ask a question to your opponent represented by the empty podium.”

Seems relevant to me that the new White House press secretary, who supposed to convey accurate information, believes that elites in the Democratic Party and Hollywood are sexually trafficking kids and eating people. 24 hours later, it hasn’t made it into mainstream coverage of Zacharia.

New White House press secretary is a Pizzagate conspiracy theorist

Katie Zacharia, who was appointed White House press secretary by President Trump on Friday, repeatedly promoted the debunked Pizzagate conspiracy on social media, accusing elites from the Democratic P...

Yes, absolutely. For example, if in the next few weeks, Trump sends ICE officers to polls, you know what you do? You go anyway, you throw them a middle finger, and you walk into the ballot box and don't let them intimidate you. What you don't do is despair and stay home.

I said this in a thread last night and in a thousand threads before it, but you really are doing the work of those who would destroy democracy and the rule of law when you are a doomer. You can be aware of — and vigorously oppose — the lawlessness of this administration without insisting on doom.

Yesterday, a Russian ballistic missile was found in a children’s playground in Kyiv, in the middle of a residential complex. Russia continues its senseless, indiscriminate attacks on civilian areas, terrorising Ukrainians in their own homes.

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

The takeaway is that she'll extend the TRO until at least tomorrow, when she'll try to get testimony from Greg Wischer that doesn't conflict with the government counsel's travel. She may extend it further only for purposes of deciding whether to enter a further TRO.

“The fact that we as a society have moved away from public executions would have mattered a lot for that earlier doctrinal understanding. That it wouldn’t mean nearly so much today is, in my view, a pretty telling indictment of #SCOTUS’s entirely recent jurisprudential shift.” Me on Nidal Hasan:

257. Public Executions and the Eighth Amendment

The shift in the Court's Eighth Amendment jurisprudence would be a significant obstacle to litigation challenging the public execution of Nidal Hasan.
