Last week, I had the chance to visit Ridley Park Library to discuss funding options for renovations to the 114-year-old library. And as a bonus, I had the pleasure of seeing kids in the summer reading program hatch their "dinosaur eggs"!
This is the type of person ICE is using your tax dollars to jail at Moshannon: a family man, who fled political violence in his home country, and has been working legally in the U.S. for twenty years. When I visited the facility, I was not allowed to speak with Cherif.
ICE wants to deport a Philly man who has lived legally in the U.S. for 20 years. He fled Guinea after being jailed by the government.
Mamadou Fadel Cherif had been jailed in his native Guinea for protesting the 1998 presidential election, then fled to the U.S.

The Department of Justice recently released a memo undermining the legal rights of Americans with disabilities to live in our communities, and which would support a return to institutionalization, rather than a mandate that states must provide in-home or community-based care when possible.
Many families are losing SNAP, despite being eligible, because of bureaucratic hurdles created by Republicans #OBBB. Even if benefits are eventually restored, the loss of SNAP for months is a disaster, as eligible families struggle in the meantime to pay for meals, health care, child care, and rent.
