Today we begin the official NLRB election for recognition of our union. We start with in person voting today followed by a period for remote workers to mail in ballots. We’re excited for every worker to have a chance to vote and look forward to the results in a couple weeks.

wow ok, so even as IGN management is pushing for more of IGN's new hires to live in LOS ANGELES, known to be wildly expensive, it's standing its ground on annual raises even smaller than what it already agreed to for IGN's sister union?? without these folks, you have no website, no IGN. pay them!!!

Today, the IGNCG sent this letter to our President of Ziff Davis Gaming & Entertainment to demand pay that reflects the rate of inflation in our contract. Please join us in asking @errorjustin.bsky.social, @peer-ign.bsky.social, @corradimus.bsky.social, and @yprough.bsky.social to pay us fairly.

Yael,

“Consistent with our commitments, we respect the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining, and we will engage in good faith with collective bargaining groups.”

That is what the Ziff Davis Labor Rights Policy states. And for the most part, that is how IGN has conducted itself throughout the negotiations over the IGN Creators Guild’s first contract. The process has been cordial and productive. Until now. The company’s most recent proposal regarding the unit's yearly wage increases is disrespectful to your staff.

To put it plainly: IGN's offer to the union doesn't keep up with inflation, which continues to rise. Our current proposal, which steps down from 4.5% to 4% over the course of the contract, is more than reasonable. To assert that a 2.5-3% yearly increase in salaries is acceptable in 2026, when the average rate of inflation over the past five years has been 4.2%, is insulting. What you are telling us is that IGN is more comfortable subsidizing its bottom line with the value of our salaries than putting us in a position of security so that we can focus on what really matters: making great content for a brand we care so deeply about.

For this offer to be even less than what the Ziff Davis Creator’s Guild received in their contract when they ratified it in 2021 is just as insulting. IGN is the most stable and successful brand of the gaming division by multiple measures. We deserve wages that reflect the value we bring to this organization. We demand it.

If you want to finish this contract, pay us fairly.

Sincerely,
The IGN Creators Guild

Wages are not keeping up with skyrocketing inflation. Prices are going up on everything from rent, to groceries, gas, utilities and more. This is a cost-of-living crisis. We can start providing some relief by giving workers a raise NOW.

Tweet from Heather Long that says:

Inflation is wiping out wage gains.
This is the big Achilles Heel in the US economy.

April wage growth: 3.6%
April inflation expected to be ~4%

Wages are being eaten up by inflation due to the war in Iran. This is a big shift from the past several years when wages were growing well above inflation.

Yes, workers have jobs, but this is a squeeze.

Happy International Worker's Day! Today, we hope to hear from WOTC and Hasbro on whether they will voluntarily recognize our union. Going to MagicCon? Show support by wearing red on Saturday. Can't go? Send us a picture of you in red instead! Keep the signatures coming! cwa.org/uwotcletter

Wizards of the Coast has issued their first response to our announcement of unionization. I am glad that they agree that workers are the lifeblood of the company, however it is important to note that we tried and failed to raise our voices for years about this stuff and were unheard.
