I need a sociologist to write a dissertation on why furry vendor spaces are so much more diverse than the rest of con demographics Furry cons are mostly cis white men, yet vendor groups are 90% women, trans people, or people of color. I have a few guesses as to why, but itโ€™s bizarre

Feels like Iโ€™m going insane seeing alerts/news stories about the hazardous air quality that donโ€™t even mention masks or say things like โ€œdo a little less yard work :)โ€. Bestie, the air is TOXIC. Any time outside is HARMFUL. The guidance should be 1) stay inside 2) if you canโ€™t stay in, wear a mask.

I see artists selling huge quantities of expensive items (like hoodies) that are covered in Pokรฉmon. Corporations WILL wait until you accumulate a large amount of money before they sue & take everything you earned. Itโ€™s not the same as getting a DMCA takedown. Youโ€™re playing with fireโ€ฆ :(

I do think at some point the indie merch community will have to contend with how fanart is not a safe way to build a brand, and how fanart merch is only allowed by grace of god (meaning companies turning a blind eye.) We all dislike corporations, but that doesnโ€™t protect you from their legal teams
