EIS-FELA Branch City of Glasgow College. We resisted the College’s decision to impose 100 compulsory redundancies (on top of 75 voluntary redundancies)
We held a rally yesterday in support of the City of Glasgow college welding lecturers who are now in week 11 of their strike and have been in dispute since November. It's time for COGC to listen to lecturers and provide RPE to staff and students in the welding and fabrication department.
Show your support for the striking welders! City Campus, 12-1pm, Tuesday @benmacpherson.bsky.social @eisunion.bsky.social @ucu.org.uk #healthandsafety #cityofglasgowcollege #welding

Charlie Montgomery moved the second motion of conference. Motion 2 asked delegates to recognize colleges as part of the community, vital pathways to a better life for many in Scotland and therefore to oppose any attempts to restructure, restyle or reclassify colleges as pseudo universities.
Kathleen McGarrity one of the striking welding lecturers gives an address to delegates. She shares concerns that management have tried to frame health and safety concerns as if they were unaware of the extent of activity being taken in the welding department. This is wholly untrue.
Andrea Bradley, EIS General Secretary, also gave her speech to the FELA conference. She provided a message of solidarity from the whole of the EIS to colleagues in FE, and particularly to those who have been fighting for safe working conditions at the City of Glasgow College.
