Today I realized that I (34) am more similar to the mom (45 - 34 == 11) talking her adult daughter to college than I am the adult daughter in the middle of said college (34 - 20 == 14) ... @_@ ...

TFW you wake up to 16 notifications and your first reaction is anxiety rather than excitement Hate brigades are more popular than like, talking about things you like

I spend more hours a week consuming YC / a16z content than Kai of 24 years ago would have preferred (they would have preferred 0) (If I had to guess I would say right now I'm at like, 3)

For me one of the more interesting parts of doing approx the same thing for a decade, is recognizing people who were @ that point when I started! Me feeling like dang I'm good at this been honing my craft People who have been aware me doing that since I was 20, being like, yeah you are vibes

All my best ideas happen when I should really really really be asleep But then the fun part is waking up the next morning like ?!?!!.???? A lot of that this morning

The social media thing where you screenshot every post you don't like so you can be upset at the person literally forever, like years and years, after they have gone to lengths to delete and retract and apologize So like, fundamentally, ... why?

Now you can opt out of having your posts shown to non-followers in the Discover feed. We know not everyone wants to go viral. Sometimes you're just posting for your followers. This is one of a few updates we're working on to give you more control over your experience and help you find your people.

Instructional image titled "Hide your posts from non-followers in Discover" accompanied by a screenshot of the "privacy and security" options from the Bluesky settings menu. "Ask apps to hide my posts from algorithmic recommendations" is toggled to the "on" state.

job app asked me what my favorite programming language was and I really really really wanted to say yaml but chickened out

Unseeable horrors but I've gotta figure out which horrors aren't encoding in the correct bitrate and also there's some visual tearing when the fake human cuts their fake onions

I had 30 notifications on here, and my first thought was that someone was raging @ me because *waves* pick any of the readily available reasons But turns out that it was just a data error and a bunch of my existing notifications had become unread! This displays how I feel about social media tho

Seeing other people release the same things you're working on, and them getting traction bc they're "well known in the space" Just tells me that I need to push harder / get things stamped and rolled out faster

It's shocking to me how many left leaning people seem to actively prefer being upset over any kind of curiosity. Seems much more common over the last 4 ish years. I don't really care to adopt the majority opinion here. I'm fine with not having a community centered around identity politics.

Sure I'll bite - being autistic and having to offset the constant information overload of certain social situations - doing things one would do with a phone without needing to be looking down at it - the above, but applied to visuals that are awkward to take pictures of. ex: food allergy lookups

Every single use-case for spy glasses and tech-bro AI seems to be "being an actual person doesn't interest me at all, what can I do instead?"

I run my own gut forgo now. Keeping disk space managed is a bit stressful. But overall very very worth it for me. Highly recommend if you're ops-y enough to self host and have a bunch of personal projects. Just as an example, here's my deploy forgejo.coilysiren.me

Forgejo: Beyond coding. We forge.

Forgejo is a self-hosted lightweight software forge. Easy to install and low maintenance, it just does the job.

Yay. www.githubstatus.com/incidents/zk... Happy monday!

My pet frustration today is people being upset at chatgpt because, every possible reason, but today because... HOW DARE YOU USE AI TO SUMMARIZE YOUR COWORKERS MESSAGES 300 upvotes, "everyone" agrees. Clearly nobody that's watching this YouTube short has been in a slack of 100 or more people???
