We need a different kind of trade. Trade that puts people before profits. That upholds Indigenous rights, protects human rights and the environment, and supports a just energy transition that benefits workers and communities—not corporations. That's the trade we're fighting for. 🧵
Dozens of Canadian civil society organizations released a statement in the Hill Times calling on the 🇨🇦government to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Cuba, cornerstone rights of all states under international law. tinyurl.com/3xdseb27

The Canadian embassy in Ecuador must recognize the widescale criminalization of rights defenders at the hands of Canadian mining in Ecuador and its responsibility to promote the protection of rights defenders. No FTA with investor protections over rights protection! @miningwatch.bsky.social

A crystal clear demonstration that Canadian Aris Mining is negatively impacting the water in the Santurban Paramo in Colombia. And yet another example of the critically important work of water and environmental defenders!
Canadian mining company Aris Mining, which intends to advance a gold mining project on the Páramo de Santurbán, is accused in Colombia of #greenwashing for attempting to clean up its image with a UN "water champion" award that was not awarded to them www.youtube.com/watch?v=bptx...
@mark-carney.bsky.social: you have been told by Indigenous communities and organizations in Ecuador: The Canada-Ecuador FTA will absolutely harm Ecuador's communities and the environment. Please listen! This could be your moment to actually create a 'new world order' - not just spin empty rhetoric.
Indigenous and campesino communities in Cuenca, Ecuador met with Canadian ambassador Craig Kowalik yesterday. They delivered a clear message: NO Canada-Ecuador Free Trade Agreement, and NO to Canadian mining in the Kimsakocha páramo.
Remember, PM Carney has promised to impose a massive expansion of "critical minerals" mining for armaments manufacturing/profiteering in order to fulfil his commitment to NATO's astonishing new 5%-of-GDP arms spending targets. But he can't afford to fund housing, health care, or education.
Why are Cdn arms fuelling foreign conflicts? Will Carney let C-233 go through? free link: archive.is/202602031240... www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/arti...
