And now Haley Stevens has conceded to & endorsed El-Sayed the way McMorrow did last night. I did not like her at all (unlike McMorrow), but good to see that she—unlike Andrew Cuomo—she clearly sees the moral obligation of “Vote Blue no matter who”
Good news on MO & KS ballot measures too. Last night was good!
AES won the primary in Michigan, so now I can go to sleep happy. Good night world!

I liked Nolan's "Odyssey" more the second time around & I've become convinced that he has presented an "Odyssey" with NOTHING supernatural. The film begins with "In an age of apparent magic..." and I think that's all it was. Nolan loves ambiguity about what really happened in his films.
Nothing new for me in this thread but it is worth stress this: bsky.app/profile/mtsw...
I think it's good that Mamdani is Just Doing Stuff but more people gotta realize that it is not a matter of Will or motivation or whatever but because the NYC Mayor, as an office, is one of the uniquely powerful individual offices you can hold in the United States (seriously)
bsky.app/profile/star... 1) The Dark Knight 2) Oppenheimer 3) The Prestige or Interstellar currently but I may decide it's The Odyssey after I see it again
lets keep this discourse going. rank your top 3 nolan films

Keep in mind that a war with a per capita equivalent destructiveness to WWI today would involve something like 90m dead, while a per capita equivalent to WWII would be something like 250m dead. So things are not good, but they have been much worse. 🤷♂️
I want AOC or Pritzker to be the nominee in ‘28 as I want a leftist or solid progressive, but a fire and brimstone destroy the fascists & their legacy more moderate Dem could be acceptable too. Ossoff might fight the mold (if Bottoms wins the GA governorship): bsky.app/profile/samd...
Magyar is a perfect example of how fighting against the far-right doesn’t necessarily map to left-wing policy positions. Magyar himself is a small-c conservative but is aggressively dismantling the far-right institutions behind the Orban regime
Was he always so soulless? I tend to think not as once upon a I really learned from & respected his writing (though not for four years now), but perhaps he was always morally bankrupt BUT was not intellectually bankrupt as much his writings 2010-2022-ish I still think are rigorous & worthwhile
Pritzker and Evers and Walz are still flawed but good. Whitmer has repeatedly disgraced herself since 2024. Very sad as she used to be better: www.freep.com/story/news/p...

I swear I want to see Israel treated the way Serbia was in the 1990s i.e. bomb their military until the genocide they are conducting stops. Netanyahu's claim about Iran is ridiculous when Israel is only 4 countries that haven't ratified the CWC & is known to have CW www.jpost.com/middle-east/...
Iran 'definitely' possesses chemical weapons, PM Benjamin Netanyahu tells US media | The Jerusalem Post
He also said that Iran had lost its capability to produce nuclear weapons during Operation Roaring Lion, adding that the US and Israeli strikes had 'pushed it back considerably.'

I will NEVER stop being furious about how so many leftists--individuals & new organizations--as well as mainstream press organizations (the NYT in particular) treated Hillary.
The Supreme Court is an illegitimate institution built on minority rule. 5 of the 6 Republican justices were appointed by presidents who lost the popular vote for their first term and confirmed by senates that Republicans controlled despite Democrats winning more votes and representing more people

I think there's actually a useful difference we can draw here. Namely: there is incrementalism that comes from pushing wherever possible (and with whatever levels possible) to make progress toward a maximalist demand, versus incrementalism that's positioned as an excuse for setting minor goals

First, a note: this means many different things. In many of these cases, an establishment incumbent lost to a DSA-backed challenger. But in some, it's a mainstream liberal beating a centrist who'd angered Dem leaders. Still, these challengers also endorsed by groups like WFP or Our Revolution.

Keir Starmer resigns as prime minister and leader of Labour Party
Starmer will remain as PM until Labour chooses a new leader - at the latest, that will happen before Parliament returns in September, or sooner if there is no contest.

The answer is 'no' & www.vanityfair.com/story/the-ne... In some moral sense saying 'yes' would feel good because it would reflect better on the electorate in someway, but the answer is very clearly 'no.'

Ta-Nehisi Coates reckons with that question, and what it means for the 2028 election.
