This is really key to remember, and that almost immediately after ending the contract MBJ started signaling to find an “alternative.” We don’t have *any* anti-ShotSpotter candidates if the option is just seeking the same by a different name.

Also looks like they’re open to making fares compatible with NITA, which would be just another feather in the cap for the regional focus of the new agency.

This story is so absurd that I think it didn’t get enough attention. Chicago police is violating the law to the tune of hundreds of thousands of secret traffic stops that it’s not reporting as the law requires. When Pascal discovered this, they said they’d fix it… but secrecy has only increased!

But now as CPD Superintendent Larry Snelling retires, the issue is worse— *half* of all stops in the last year were not properly documented

it's not the whole issue, but a large part of why pace and CTA have such horrible and decaying bus fleets is because their net zero mandates mean they can't really buy new diesel buses, but sourcing zero emissions buses is incredibly hard at the moment - to say nothing of converting garages

There is already so much low-information propaganda about this municipal election cycle from influencers who have never even been through a Chicago municipal election before and who have clearly never organized to try and get anything done in the City, and many are just eating it up and amplifying.

Just going to put this out there: but @mayorofchicago.bsky.social told transit advocates yesterday they need to compromise. Today Chicago is covered in wildfire smoke, a direct result of climate change warming. Transportation is the single largest source of GHG emissions in Illinois. SMDH

Didn’t know we could have an AQI of 701 but here we are.
The mayor bragging about getting a free car ride to work is not the flex he thinks it is in light of his performance on transportation policy.
I think it’s important for the public to know that this is the entirety of who was in the room to approve the NITA board appointments.

No one is arguing AGAINST connectivity at the site. We're saying their plans are wholly insufficient considering the public investment.
"There's no longer a catalyst as there was with the DPI" Transit *is* a catalyst, number one. But they ARE bringing in 22,000 people for games, and proposing THOUSANDS of new residents in the future.
