Former GOPer. Civil discourse & critical thinking desired. Truth is essential. Politics, economics, philosophy, history, phrases & quotes with some humor, wit & sarcasm. The chaos of the next 2 yrs will prove necessary to finally correct this MAGA mess.
“Men can only be happy when they do not assume that the object of life is happiness.” ― George Orwell
“I can't give you a sure-fire formula for success, but I can give you a formula for failure: try to please everybody all the time.” ― Herbert Bayard Swope
Three things about Trump that are unmistakable: 1. He is increasingly disconnected from reality. 2. He is increasingly desperate to convey grandiosity and avoid humiliation - this drives him. 3. His health - physical, mental, and neurological - is worsening, adding impatience.
“.. he is so set on avenging his election loss and pursuing retribution against his political enemies that he has Americans looking backward when many have signaled they would rather he explain why the country is at war ..” @nytimes.com www.nytimes.com/2026/08/03/u...
The gaslighting is off the charts with this one. Every word is a lie. His actual approval rating is the second worst in modern presidential history, behind only Nixon’s 24% just before he resigned.

One question I'd ask the GOP Reps, Senators & party members: IF a Dem Pres proposed paying millions, up to $1.8B of taxpayer dollars to felons who invaded the Capitol, beat police, damaged property and tried to overturn our democracy, would you still agree & be silent, as now? We know the answer.
“The object of terrorism is terrorism. The object of oppression is oppression. The object of torture is torture. The object of murder is murder. The object of power is power. Now do you begin to understand me?” ― George Orwell, 1984
“Do what you feel in your heart to be right – for you’ll be criticized anyway.” ― Eleanor Roosevelt
The effective federal corporate income tax rate: 1950: 50% 1990: 25% 2020: 13% Stop asking "but how we will pay for it?" Restore the corporate tax rate. That is how we will pay for it.
RFK Jr is a disgrace, and embarrassment yet doesn't realize it. They all must be drinking that "feel good about yourself" cocktail.
I worked for New York’s largest medical center at the start of the pandemic. There were morgue trucks on the streets. They set up emergency medical tents in Central Park. Healthcare worker colleagues died. It is horrific that RFK Jr is on national TV lying that ICUs were empty.
FYI: Blanche rescinded the ORDER establishing the slush fund, not the underlying “settlement.” The settlement says any changes must be agreed to by ALL parties, not just Todd. This “rescission” isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.
We're up to our necks in political corruption, incompetence, and outright lies with an administration doing everything it can to deconstruct democracy and dodge the rule of law. All of this is supported by a reckless republican house and senate. The only way out is to vote them all out. VOTE!
Humor = good for the soul! But, where do "they" really go??
😂😂😂
RFK Jr.: “You probably don’t understand this as you’re not a scientist.” Dana Bash: “You’re not a scientist either.”
A narcissistic cannot accept that they are not approved of, not thought to be the greatest & no longer the power broker... in fact becoming irrelevant. In private sector jobs, when narcissists realize they are in the above situation, they quit. But they quit blaming all & everyone else for failure.
“You are a slow learner, Winston." "How can I help it? How can I help but see what is in front of my eyes? Two and two are four." "Sometimes, Winston. Sometimes they are five. Sometimes they are three. Sometimes they are all of them at once. You must try harder. It is not easy to become sane.” -1984
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” ― Margaret Mead
Means-tested programs like SNAP are shaped not just by benefit levels, but by hassle. And hassle is regressive: it hits hardest when you lack a car, flexibility, cash, or time. https://newsletter.platypuseconomics.com/p/how-snaps-new-rules-make-eligible
“Several of them would have protested if they could have found the right arguments.” ― George Orwell, Animal Farm
