Across all taxes, small businesses fail to pay between £30 billion and £48 billion of tax. These figures are massive. Enough to fund significant tax cuts or additional expenditure
Under 16s social media ban commands significant support from the public. From all of our conversations it’s seen as an area where people think individual parents can’t act alone and an area where they need government to help them take back control.
Before "agentic AI," we had the idea that software was your agent on the internet. That's why the technical term for a browser is a "user agent." Your browser acts on your behalf to retrieve and show it you information, in the format you choose. It's your agent: pluralistic.net/2024/05/07/t... 1/

The problem is not that stamp duty increases “backfire”. It is worse than that: they work fiscally, while doing real economic and human damage. Our full report is here. More detail and methodology with all code open sourced. taxpolicy.org.uk/2026/06/09/w...

Trump is stealing your money with his policies by making everything more expensive but he doesn’t care because his priorities are wars, ballrooms, reflecting pools, and self-enrichment.
The media come at Polanski and miss big time! This is a scary example of media bias to the Greens. They took a badly researched story from a Labour supporting tax guy ran it without doing any of their own checking. Now they're all exposed as idiots. And that was their best attack against Zack😂
One of the things Starmer's defenders on here get so wrong is to insist it's all about media froth. In fact, as that Jess Philips letter demonstrates, the most damning criticism of Starmer comes from those concerned about the policy and delivery process.
I'm record saying that every economic bubble is terrible, but some bubbles *do* leave behind a salvageable productive residue while others leave behind nothing but ashes; indeed, this is the thesis of my next book, *The Reverse Centaur's Guide to Life After AI* us.macmillan.com/books/978037... 1/

How would we know? The Conservatives in 2019 and Labour in 2024 both ran on impossible promises and most of their partisans have spent the time since complaining that the voters are unreasonable. When was the last chance you gave them to *be* reasonable?

We’ve seen a *massive* swing away from homeownership into expensive private renting. Mortgaged families dropped from 30% to 17% of Unsung Britain, while private renters nearly doubled. Almost as many people live with parents (15%) as own with a mortgage (17%).
Council Tax has become increasingly regressive. It now takes nearly 5% of income from the poorest families but barely 1% from the richest. For many, it's become a grinding monthly obligation to rival the Poll Tax.
