I don’t want to give Cornyn and Tillis any credit, and I absolutely won’t. They are trying to make a deal to just slightly cabin the most open corruption by any U.S. President and in return give the imprimatur to the Senate of the bagman for the deal?
This England team is like Henry V in that they are absolutely humiliating France in a way that is ultimately completely irrelevant to anything anyone cares about, but the English will never stop talking about it anyway.
Well, I don’t love supporting the team that has already won three times and has the guy who everyone has shirts of, but I can’t possibly support the former brutal colonial master against its former colonial possession, so I guess it’s Argentina.
I see, so what you are telling me is they are taking my tax money and using it to buy the votes of a bunch of cheesesteak-eating wooder-icers. Western Pennsylvania’s votes aren’t worth corruptly buying, huh? Same old 1794 shit. Where my tar and feathers at?
The White House launched 25 Freedom Fuel gas stations, all selling fuel at $3.47 a gallon.
They just called all rise on an appellate argument livestream I am watching and I involuntarily stood up at my desk.
I do think people who run for office and are accused of bad behavior, including crimes, should have a form of due process. But the degree of process that is due is they get to respond. They can try to convince people to vote for them anyway. Platner got to respond.
You do not have to give people “due process” before you choose not to vote for them. You can just be like “oh word the guy who wrote rape apologia and had allegations just got another serious allegation? Guess he doesn’t need to be my senator.”
Making a corrupt bargain to cheat at a sport Americans don’t even care about then losing 4-1 anyway may become the enduring metaphor of the Trump era.
This ties in with something that has long bothered me: the concept of being “proud to be an American.” Pride is for accomplishments, not accidents of birth. If you have immigrated to the U.S. (whether you have become a citizen or not) it makes sense to be proud to be an American. I get that.
I see a lot of “so-and-so is a birthright citizen” because their parents weren’t citizens when they were born on American soil. But the truth is, we’re all birthright citizens, unless we have been naturalized.
My spouse wanted me to explain this morning why I spent 18 hours yesterday writing something that I could have spent a couple of hours a day on over the course of weeks. I am pretty sure that asking that question is a good indication that one is not capable of understanding the answer.
I feel the same way about this as I do when people tell me they are going to run for local office. You are going to work around the clock and sacrifice everything else to this goal, and the best case scenario in the end is you have to be on the fucking city council? Why?
i read the entire piece so you don't have to. the short answer is no www.nature.com/articles/d41...
First car I drove. Not actually this one. I don’t know that there are any photos of my actual one in electronic format. And it’s the first car I owned, I learned on a hodgepodge of cars and trucks owned by various relatives. Loved this car. But the windows did have a habit of exploding.
The first car I drove* *The car I learned to drive on, at least. This was the family sedan. The first car I actually drove was one of my dad's random rides, which he changed annually, and I was so traumatized by the experience I have no recollection of what car it actually was.
I don’t see how people can complain when the company said right in their name what color water they make.
Joy Behar can sink the global economy if you pick a fight with her? I did not know that.
JD Vance: "I have seen some progressive criticisms of me saying, 'What experience does the VP have with hostile, high-stakes negotiations?' And I would point out that just two days ago I spent over an hour on The View. Joy Behar is way tougher than the Iranians."
I am really curious if Vance understood when he agreed to take this job what an unending string of humiliations he was signing up for.
Q: President Trump said yesterday he was gonna blame you if the talks with Iran go sideways. Are you worried he's gonna make you the fallguy? JD VANCE: No, not at all. I think the president was joking
Dan fucking Moraff is mixed up in this mess? Now it makes sense.
I don’t think this guy knows what Reconstruction was.
With respect to this infuriating information, does anyone recall this super funny joke from a constitutional scholar just the other day about restricting black political power? Well, he must’ve thought it was funny…but wouldn’t even defend it. bsky.app/profile/anth...
They may have effective U.S. tax immunity, but the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act remains a thing.
The amount of corruption in this administration is astounding.
If you are an adult and can’t handle anything a stoned ten-year-old can throw at you without help from the police, some life reexamination is needed.
Downtown. Forbes Ave at Wood Street. Caller said a bunch of 10 year olds are smoking weed and harassing people. PD said they just moved them out of Mk Square and they'll just keep pushing them out of the area.
You know, most people would take being humiliatingly defeated in and blindsided by the consequences of in a war they started for no clear reason as a signal to start taking intelligence seriously. Or you could just put your nepo baby hatchet man in charge.
“No, the Epstein thing was fine. I didn’t do anything you would take women to, like sex parties. We only did man things, like money and power. I would never invite a woman to a discussion of those things.”
Are You There God? It's Me, Ken Paxton, to Check Your Genitalia.
Prime rib carving stations are the worst, because you know those things can’t be evenly divided.
Your way of life is forcing everyone to eat cheese and god to wear pants? Now, if you had a program to encourage the eating of cheese by providing free or reduced-cost cheese, that I would get behind. But I don’t think that is on Paxton’s to do list.
Paxton: "He's a threat to our very way of life. I mean, he's a vegan who thinks God is nonbinary."
I don’t understand how Rocky Mountain oysters and huevos rancheros are not the same thing.
Finally got my son to agree to something I could make him for dinner, but by the time we made it to the kitchen we had watched four instagram reels of baseball bloopers and both forgotten what it was. So things are going good.
My daughter tried to put on the new Drake album and I was surprised how strong my reaction was. This is a Kendrick house. You can ruin your life by listening to Drake when you pay your own rent.
@nbcnews.com just broke into this cop show my dad is watching for a “Special Report” stating, essentially, that Trump is in China as planned and nothing new has happened. WTF? Why would they do that? What a bizarre choice. Just cut like three minutes out of the regular programming to say nothing.
Baltimore remains the Batimoreiest Baltimore to ever Baltimore.
NYT Editor: “Nadine, do you have the illustration for the guest essay?” Nadine: “Yup, real sarcastic and dismissive of the essay’s argument, just like you asked.”
