Ok, work hat on: My day job is research integrity for a major academic publisher. AI detection tools for text are unreliable if all they’re parsing is the text. They return false positives all the time. An em dash is not proof of AI use. You know who uses em dashes a lot? Writers.

The prevalence of LLM slop just has everyone doubting *everything* and looking for patterns, enough to ignore or forget that some of these patterns are craft, and the LLM's do it because that's what they trained on
Almost as depressing as people using AI to write: People who have apparently read so little decent writing that they believe utterly commonplace tools every minimally competent writer employs are AI tells.

For reals Every good writing technique I was taught & practiced over the years is not a sign of AI LLMs using these same methods is proof they were trained on writers who also used the same good writing techniques! I cannot handle people being too dumb to understand how AI/ML works
