Today I'm taking my niece back to uni for the start of her third year. I'm making a playlist to listen to in the car; the vibes are very 'dad rock' because that feels appropriate for the journey. What would be on your "dad rock to make a 20yo roll their eyes" playlist?

We're publishing new guidance to support trans people who do fieldwork (any work outside the office)! Now we need your help to get them seen so please share! inclusivefieldwork.leeds.ac.uk/trans/
Here's a thing I am finding it hard since being diagnosed with ADHD earlier this year. Despite being able to see just how much medication has been life changing, I still have a lot of internalised ableism and catch myself thinking unhelpful thoughts about myself.
I've decided to stop bringing a laptop and having an intention to get work done when I'm travelling, because every time I do, things get disrupted and I end up not being able to work but still having to lug a huge bag round with me...
On Saturday I ran 5k faster than I'd ever done before (calm down lads it still takes me over half an hour, it's fast for *me* not fast for humanity). Today I ran further than I'd ever done before (6.5km at a nice gentle slow jog). I think at some point I'm going to have to accept I'm a runner now.
Happy Friday, everyone! What's everyone's plans for the weekend? I'm tidying my house from top to bottom so my niece doesn't think I'm a massive slob when she comes to stay next week...
Too much of the discourse today is about that stupid ADHD documentary. Here's my thoughts, for what it's worth: I'm an amazing, complex, creative, brilliant individual, with a whole string of achievements. I also came very close to burning out completely over the last few years.
Didn't get to finishing the jumper yesterday but I did finish the repairs to the carriage for my punchcard machine and knitted this swatch to test whether it would knit textures nicely. I need to learn more about tuck stitch and slip stitch, and figure out how they might fit into some garment design
People of Bluesky! Tell me about the beautiful things you are creating today! I'll start: I've got a jumper on the knitting machine that is crying out to be finished so I'm going to crack on and see what I can do!

I'm sure people who know me would say "knitting machines" but they're wrong, I definitely have room for a few more in my house.

The pins I ordered from @canopyrobin.com arrived today! This will be perfect for days when I'm feeling both she and they energy 😊
Started running again back in May, using the Couch to 5K app. Graduated this morning, I'm now able to jog for 30 minutes without stopping. I'm incredibly proud of myself. I can run for longer too; I've done a Race for Life and a couple of Parkruns where I've run (v slowly) without doing any walking!
Spent much of the last few days arguing with 2 knitting machine carriage handle screws I'd like to extract without damaging the carriage, and preferably also without damaging the handle. I don't give a fig about the screws as they're the easiest to replace. But running out of non nuclear options.

I just bought a couple more of Robin's excellent pin badges for my growing collection - and if you don't already own any of these beautiful little works of art, today is a good day to start your own collection 😊
Congratulations! I see you found it already 🥰 but, in case anyone else was wondering, it's canopyrobin.etsy.com

REMEMBER The guidance coming into effect today doesn't dictate what you're allowed to do as an individual. It for service providers and business owners. Do not cower in fear, do not reduce yourself, do not isolate, that is one of the intended effects.
The unworkable EHRC Code comes into effect today - A reminder to all my lovely trans+ fam… It’s designed for organisations, not you! It does NOT make it a criminal offence for you to carry on using whichever loo best suits you/ your needs. If someone complains, that’s the orgs problem, not yours!
Update: I did the thing! And now I have some time off without lots of urgent tasks and pressure and stress. (Guess I should probably tidy the house and organise things so that next time I have too much work and not enough time, at least the space I'm having panic attacks in is well b organised?)
I have to do a thing and I'm very anxious that I won't be able to do the thing, so if anyone feels like encouraging me with a hearty "you can do it!", now would be a good time.

Right lads, I set the alarm for 0645 so i can get up and do some exercise before it becomes too hot to be alive. I expect I will regret that decision in around 6 hours...
MAN: Hello, police? It's a terrible thing, you see, my wife was killed last night, I was hoping you could send someone to investigate OFFICER: Certainly sir, the great detective Columbo is in town. Go and see him, he will solve the case MAN: Ah, I see, very good. Oh, officer, just one more thing,
If you're not angry about the current ADHD 'overdiagnosis' rhetoric, you should be. Middle aged women are having to fight for diagnosis having lived literal decades misdiagnosed and in misery. And if you're not already following Sarah you should; she knows and speaks truth.
Today in social justice toolkit: A dilemma action is a strategic action that forces your opponent into a lose-lose situation. You've given them only bad options. I give some examples & then we talk about how to design them. This one's pretty important. Read and share, please?

Yesterday was busy, dentist appointment, then another ( I needed a filling and he had a cancellation that afternoon). A mad dash by car because a train was cancelled. A lovely dinner with friends, and some board games (including Poetry for Neanderthals which I'd heard good things about and was fun)
I've been sorting through old notes in the notes app on my phone, and deleting stuff I no longer need. Can't decide if the note that just says "executive function" or the one that just says "need a plan" are a) important and b) related
As well as the poached egg, this millennial also smashed an avocado this morning. I am resisting the temptation to post a photo of it on Instagram.
Just made the best poached egg I've ever made in my life. I will never recreate the heady heights of that moment. It's like the time 5 years ago that I made the best fried egg I've ever made in my life. All downhill from here now.
Made Tarte Tatin to take to a friend's later for dinner. While I was waiting for it to cool enough to turn out, I went for a walk by the river. Nesting grebe, heron, and then to top it all off I swear I saw what looked like a kingfisher. Only ever seen one once before!
