South Yorkshire lass who ran for the hills, but (not so) secretly would rather be French. Gardener, sometime birder and Starmerite. Doesn’t suffer fools or eat gammon. #FBPE

Lowe seeking rapprochement with Farage within a fortnight of Burnham’s coronation is no co-incidence. I suspect Reform, Restore and the Tory rump will join forces, and US and Russian money will back them in order to finish off Burnham the lightweight and the Labour Party. I really hope I’m wrong.

Unite the Union members - it's election time for General Secretary. This is an opportunity to get rid of Sharon Graham. Please vote for Simon Dubbins. Members will have got an email ballot from 'Civica Election Services' and a paper ballot. Voting closes noon on 11th August.

If you are a Unite member and want more climate action (not less), look out for the ballot paper which should arrive in the next couple of days. Sharon Graham has argued for more drilling in the North Sea and briefed against Ed Miliband because of his work on net zero. Time to dump Sharon!

Given the nature and execution of Burnham’s take-over and events of this week in terms of policy and appointments, it’s difficult not to reach what for me is a very difficult conclusion: It was not for the country. It was not for the Labour Party. It was not even about the next General Election 1/

The cooing from Burnham’s groupies is nauseating! They are trying to give the impression that Burnham replaced a Tory PM, rather than a Labour PM who put in the graft, took the brickbats from a media briefed by his own Ministers, and laid the foundations on which Burnham could build.

It is not a Cabinet to unite the Party. It is not a Cabinet that makes the best use of the talent available. It is a Cabinet that sends all the wrong messages; and will not convince a single voter who thinks ‘they’re all the same’ that it is not the case. 1/

I know it's not the biggest news of the day, but I just spotted this... One of Keir Starmer's last acts in Govt is this: Laying legislation that will legalise 'plug-in solar' (aka balcony solar) panels in Britain It means plug-in solar panels do not (legally) have to be wired in by an electrician.

Not every immigrant to Europe is a Kylian Mbappe or Bukayo Saka but the vast majority contribute to society - doctors, cleaners, carers, nurses, teachers etc. A truth that I wish more politicians would acknowledge.
