I still suspect a lot of the reason Doug Ford is so anti-speed cameras is the fact that they don't care who's breaking the speed limit. A cop doing a radar gun speed trap will probably let politicians and influential business folks off the hook from time to time. A speed camera doesn't.

Judge Bruce Short has rejected a joint submission between the Crown and the defence for a man who has pleaded guilty to impaired driving causing death, saying the fact that he’s been caught driving while suspended since the death shows that he “hasn't taken any steps to improve.”
