We agree: our mass resignation from a commercial publisher enabled us to carve a crucial space in scholarly publishing, controlled by the academic community, for the academic community. It's not about IFs.

It's easy to be sniffy about the impact of editorial board resignations on publishing but collective action in higher education is actually pretty rare and should be actively supported where possible.
