Wow. I needed this. I've been hit like a ton of bricks with grief. Recently, I've been thinking about everyone I've lost after the anniversary of a family member's passing. I hate how the grief process can be years or decades. At any time you can still go back to stage 1.

“Let me keep my mind on what matters.” Mary Oliver Grief is complex, personal and often unexpected. We can’t choose how we feel, but we can be kinder to ourselves. There’s no right or wrong way to feel. All of it matters. #Grief #Kindness #SelfCompassion Artwork by Charlie Mackesy

A handwritten illustration by Charlie Mackesy shows a horse lying on the ground beside a young boy. The boy asks the horse whether it has ever lost someone it loves and how that feels. The horse describes feeling numb, sad, lost and sometimes angry, with nowhere to put its love. When the boy asks whether that is grief, the horse replies that there is no right or wrong way to feel and that all of it is important. The illustration uses loose black and brown ink lines with soft blue and grey watercolour washes against a white background.

I had another rough day at work. I made the same mistakes I made yesterday. At least I fully understand why they were mistakes & the correct process. Everyone was in a hurry to leave yesterday, so my coworkers told me incorrect information & didn't explain the procedure. I need a vacation. 😂💤

I'm on both Vyvanse & Ritalin for ADHD. I take one in the morning & the other mid-day. It's been very helpful at work. Today, I couldn't seem to use my brain & hand/eye coordination was fucked. I was almost in tears by the end of the day. I feel like I asked stupid questions all day. Ugh.

Congratulations to all 24 schools across Illinois on your official recognition as a Governor’s Blue Ribbon School. You’ve all gone above and beyond in the past school year and set the standard for excellence in education.

It isn’t hard to imagine what Illinois schools would look like under Darren Bailey. The school he founded uses a curriculum that teaches slave owners were kind to their slaves, and that dinosaurs lived alongside humans. He’s too extreme for Illinois.

Speaking of live-streaming executions… There were white people in America, particularly from the 1880s through the 1930s, who enjoyed watching Black people being lynched. They brought their families, took photos & collected pieces of the victims’ clothing as souvenirs. [1935 — Fort Lauderdale]

The only realistic way to get past that need to "prove" who we are-- especially to people who wouldn't get it & who don't care anyway-- is to KNOW, w/ rock solid certainty, who we are. For many trauma survivors THAT is the central quest of recovery: creating, finding ourselves.

“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” Sharon Salzberg We all have so much on our minds. We’re human, we can’t get everything right or do it all. A reminder to give ourselves a little more compassion. 🧡 #SelfCompassion Artwork by worry_lines

A hand-drawn illustration by @worry_lines on a white background, featuring nine simple black-outlined figures arranged in a three-by-three grid. Each figure has a different object balanced on its head, representing everyday responsibilities and worries. These include a shopping basket full of groceries, a laptop showing a video call, an orange cat, a large pile of clothes, a drooping houseplant, a pink piggy bank, a stack of paperwork, household and creative supplies, and a globe surrounded by flames. Beneath each figure is a handwritten, underlined word. Read from left to right, top to bottom, the words form the sentence: “I’VE GOT A LOT ON MY MIND RIGHT NOW.” The figures have small, understated facial expressions, giving the illustration a gentle, slightly humorous feel.
