🗣️ AUTHLIB has explored the discourse of illiberal actors and the role of emotions in political communication. 📄 Carsten Q. Schneider @cqschneider.bsky.social @weareceu.bsky.social discussed if and how political leaders’ public speech can act as an early warning signal of democratic decline.

Contrary to what the facial expressions might suggest, this has actually been a very enjoyable and interesting event. Thanks to everyone who was part of the Author-Meets-Critics event in my SSMR book

Hybrid table, beautiful Krakow, and a great discussion of @cqschneider.bsky.social’s Set-Theoretic Multi-Method Research with @evathomann.bsky.social, James Mahoney & Gary Goertz. Get the book here: www.cambridge.org/core/books/s...

我很高兴地宣布:My book, co-authored with Claudius Wagemann, “Set-Theoretic Methods for the Social Sciences” (2012) is now available in Chinese. I learn that the middle initial Q. translates as Q. in Chinese.

Are you interested in enhancing your descriptive and causal inference by combining QCA with case studies? Happy to see my book out now. Descriptive and causal inference is enhanced by returning to cases after QCA. SMMR spells out the principles and practices of selecting the best cases in the data.
