I recently learned that I really enjoy reading. In the last few weeks I've read Project Hail Mary and We Are Legion (We Are Bob). Upgraded to the hardcover version of PHM and got the rest of the Bobiverse books today. Anyone have any other Sci-Fi book recommendations?

I'm not endorsing piracy, but it sure seems like the only way to 'own' digital media is through piracy. There's no way to purchase digital media without a revocable license. Yeah yeah I'm aware a physical copy is also just a license but the studio isn't taking away my BluRays.

Had to call 911 this evening and was concerned when the call didn't show up in my call log. Turns out that's by design for privacy. It can prevent an abuser from seeing that 911 was called. I think that's a great design.

Watched Project Hail Mary for the 2nd time the other day. Enjoyed it even more. It's absolutely in my top 5 favorite movies, maybe even top 3. I can't wait for it to release on 4K Blu-Ray. I picked up a Panasonic UB820 (4k BD player) for the home theater and 4K BDs looks SO GOOD on it!

The SpaceX IPO is just a way for individuals to pump and dump stock from a company that lost $5 billion last year. It furthers the extreme wealth inequality in America. Musk is now a trillionare and the richest super villain on the planet. Meanwhile I just want healthcare.

Thank you for 11 years of service and nearly 8 years of power on time. This is only the 2nd of 8 drives I bought 11 years ago to have failed for my home NAS. The other 6 are still working with zero errors.

GPS satellites move at 1/100000 the speed of light, causing their clocks to tick slower by 7 microseconds per day, and orbit at a height that makes their clocks tick faster by 45 microseconds per day. Two relativistic effects, both at the 1 part in 10 billion level, both essential for GPS accuracy ๐Ÿงช

Dropping big tech is a priority for me this year. Today I accomplished a huge goal: drop Google Photos. I've finished building my #Immich server. It offers all the features I need from Google Photos, allows me to keep my data private, and removes another monthly subscription. ๐Ÿ‘
