New York City’s business elites are long accustomed to direct access to City Hall, where even Democratic mayors felt the need to court the city’s wealthiest and most influential corporate leaders. That access is getting shredded by Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
Feels like we should have some way of stipulating, in political arguments, that being poor really sucks and makes pretty much every aspect of life harder. We shouldn't have to reinvent and debate that specific wheel every time.
Of all the things to admit on the internet, “I don’t know how bananas work” is one of the funniest
Spoken like a man who has never had to shop for himself.
I don’t think there’s a progressive / left-wing mandate in the Democratic Party at this point but I do think it’s fair to ask what conditions would lead “neutral” commentators to say Ds need to tack left, given all electoral outcomes are typically taken as evidence of a need to move to the center.
I’m sure it’s happened before but I can’t recall a candidate winning a statewide nomination while being outspent ~9:1
Unfathomable

I fear we may be in the end times (I’m in pretty strong agreement with a Bret Stephens piece)

It’s bad for your brain and worse for democracy.

Looks like a 10-15 point polling miss in Michigan regardless of who wins. And people have been writing a lot of electability takes using this data. It’s dangerous out there folks be safe
Huh. Ellison’s op-ed didn’t get into this at all. Guess he just ran out of space talking about his values and the truth.
Yep. Earlier this year I was interviewed by Sharyn Alfonsi of 60 Minutes about my Epstein investigation. Subsequently, CBS pulled the segment and fired the reporter. The MAGA buyout of media is aiding the Trump administration’s Epstein cover up.
Seems like a good candidate for party leadership!
House Ethics panel recommends censure for Chuck Edwards after harassment allegations
After a months-long investigation, the ethics committee recommended censure for Edwards because of "persistent unprofessional and inappropriate conduct towards two young female staffers."

This just might be the most psychotic act of sexual harassment I’ve ever seen. Not the worst per se, or most menacing but in terms of sheer insanity it’s really up there.
TL;DR Collins: He's going to get confirmed anyway, so I can pretend to have principles.
Susan Collins is a NO on Todd Blanche for AG: “While I believe Mr. Blanche is a capable lawyer, the Department of Justice has become increasingly political.” Unlikely to change the outcome; he can lose two Rs and get confirmed. Collins voted YES on Blanche as Deputy AG last year.
Hey @dieworkwear.bsky.social , should a guy with Tom Brady money have a dress shirt with a neck that fits like this?

Yeah aight
OK, which one of you kicked me out of the “bald guys with the last name Boylan-Kolchin” group chat because “there wasn’t enough space”? It’s starting to feel pretextual and targeted.
Update: group chats can now host up to 100 members.

“I can’t give anyone a view into my heart and mind but I can split some meaningless platitudes that say nothing about my views”. All we can do is judge people by their actions, and we can look at what’s happened at CBS News to see clearly that Ellison is full of shit.
Genuinely a choice to give the son of a billionaire column space to argue for him to further consolidate the media, especially given the pretty abysmal track record of on journalism he has already implemented at CBS

Fortunately, I am an aspiring poaster, not a writer. (This is great advice about writing, though; it’s part of putting yourself into the mind of your audience, which is often crucial for effective communication)
As a writer I try to remember that the fact that something annoys me personally does not necessarily make that thing important enough to write about
i, also, look forward to his colleagues reading everything for themselves

It’s very weird to frame this as an attack on his family when it’s coming from his family

Me: I have too much self-respect to read that rage-bait article Also me: reads that rage-bait article
Feels to me that a lot of people want to get way too cute about this. Yes, there’s a lot of awful history in the US. But do they really want to argue that repeal of birthright citizenship or various attempts to deport millions of people wouldn’t represent a dramatic break from previous conditions?!?
