By matching clownery with clownery and buffoonery with buffoonery, Portlanders are showing us, in the midst of the Icetapo invasion, that there is hope by demonstrating what those "Keep Portland Weird" bumper stickers are about. Weird as in magnificent, relevant, and brave. #Portland2025 #PDX2025
My first foray into fiction writing. Intense but fun. Although the title is in Spanish, the story is written in English. Let me know your thoughts. muse.jhu.edu/pub/3/articl...

US CBP has authority to board a bus or train without a warrant anywhere within this 100-mile zone. About 200 million people, reside within this expanded border region. Most of the 10 largest cities such as NYC, LA, and Chicago are included. Florida lies entirely within this border band. ACLU

Those who like to find fault on other's political actions, thinking they're never enough, STFU. Yes, SU before criticizing someone for choosing to fight one thing over others. We can't all focus on all of it. That's the point of the EO blitz. But, we can create networks and keep tabs on each other.
Your neighborhood ethnic studies/american studies scholar here. (Re)read Naomi Klein's book _Shock Doctrine_. The blitz of executive orders aims to shock us all into inaction. The strategy for those with an ounce of energy left should be to concentrate on something that matters to them, and fight.

Let's flood Bluesky with MLK Jr. today. Here's a quote, timely and timeless. "I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant." --From his 1964 Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech.

Here's a little piece of me for 2024. Wishing everyone a peaceful and happy 2025 (because we need it!). Feliz año nuevo a todos/as/es.
I believe that Jimmy Carter spent his life atoning for the things he did during his presidency. The one President who showed us that good intentions are constrained by the parameters of the presidency, which has built-in mechanisms to protect the interests of U.S. capital and its elites. RIP, Sir.
Here, Bluesky, enjoy a trio of holiday gnomes next to a duck. Because why not?
